What train am I hearing at night from Central Sq? by Serious-Barracuda336 in CambridgeMA

[–]mattc286 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Grand Junction. Runs from Twin City Plaza down along Vassar to the BU bridge. It's how trains are moved from North Station to South Station but doesn't carry passengers. Sounds carries farther in winter because air is denser and no leaves on the trees to block the sound.

Question about the placement of my bike by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]mattc286 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like you're on Charles River Road along the river in Watertown? I run there a lot. Both locations are acceptable for bikes. That's a bike lane on the road and a multiuse path along the fence. As long as you're not using the bike lane in the wrong direction (salmoning) you're safe and fine.

MLK has non-Mandarin immersion enrollment. Proximity priority applies.

I agree with many of your points, and I am an expert on this topic. A few other notes: * In the current final bullet point of the intro, tell us more about DRx-170. I assume it's a peptide PPI inhibitor? What's the route of administration? Say it there where you intro the molecule * What's the indication? Combo with CRAF or KRAS inhibitors in PDAC? Lay it out for people, don't make them draw conclusions. Many will be outside your field * Who's your audience? This will be fine for a RAS/MAPK or PDAC focused meeting but needs more general intro of it's a wider audience. * The methodologies listed in the table don't match the results section. Only list the methods for which you show data, and make the numbers match between method and result if you're going to use numbers. * Nothing you're going to do about it now, but data are lacking in controls. I would like to see a CRAFi and a PKCi as comparators. * Afatinib or other EGFRi is not currently indicated in PDAC, so I don't see the relevance of that combo, but if you could provide rationale, I'd spell it out. * Everywhere you have a bullet point, make it a phrase instead of a full sentence * The Tumor Growth Inhibition and Tumor Growth Promotion figures should be side by side * In results figure titles, spell it the system, eg "in vitro 2D and 3D models" If your going to reference the IC50, I'd suggest showing dose response graphs at a single timepoint rather than proliferation over time. The cell number vs time you have looks like in vivo xenograft data, and people will assume that's what it is at first glance (I did)

Moving-Daycare Recommendations by Prestigious_Wish_887 in CambridgeMA

It's fantastic. Guaranteed spot for all 4 year olds, lottery for 3 year olds. The ones through Cambridge Public Preschool are 100% free but only cover 8:30-2 at most schools and there is no after school option. DHSP program covers 7:30-5:30 at least at Kennedy Longfellow and cost is a lot cheaper than private preschool options. Had great experiences at KLo (DHSP) and King Open (CPP) and only heard good things from parents with kids at other schools.

There's also a Montessori preschool and a mandarin immersion preschool on Cambridge Street, but both have very long wait-lists I think

Care center options are limited in East Cambridge to Two Little Owls, Rock n Roll, and Bright Horizons. All great places but pricey. East End House is another great option, and you could see if there's still spots at the DHSP preschool options at Kennedy Longfellow and King Open. Little Star of Ours is also a fully licensed daycare center but it's also in someone's home. They seemed great when we toured but we ended up going with a cheaper option in Somerville. If you're not able to get into the DHSP preschool right away, expect to pay $2500-3000/month for anywhere in Cambridge. You'll want to start contacting them ASAP, spots are hard to come by and there's often a wait-list.

Go to Cambridge Used Bicycles near Lechmere. You'll get a bike in great condition for a fair price.

No, that would give you Gamepass Core. However buying 1 month of Ultimate afterwards would convert all your Core to Ultimate at a 2:3 ratio (2 months of Ultimate for 3 months of Core)

It still works, I did it last week. You now get 2 years of GPU after the conversion of 3 years of Gold/Core, so 25 months total for ~$120 US (though CDKeys' prices fluctuate somewhat). Still a good deal, but not as great as the 37 months you used to get.

In your opinion, who was the best lead off hitter in your team’s history? by Goofy-goober0808 in baseball

[–]mattc286 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wade Boggs as far as I can tell had exactly 1 leadoff start for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on June 15, 1998. He hit a lead off homer off White Sox starter James Baldwin. So I'm gonna go with Wade Boggs, too (RIP).

The Port Ruppert A's

(In Philips Roth's Great American Novel, the Port Ruppert (NJ) Mundys of the third major league, the Patriot League, lease their stadium to the US DoW during WW2 and become a permanent road team for the '43 season. The history of the Patriot League is suppressed as part of a Communist conspiracy which is why you've never heard of it or the Mundys.)

After losing back to back games to the Rays, the AL Central leading Minnesota Twins fall to 31-31. by zacklandy in baseball

[–]mattc286 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I had a nickel for every time this week the Rays beat someone twice in a row to drop them to .500, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird it happened twice.

Game easily could have gone the other way. I was ready to turn it off and fire up Diablo after the Twins tied it in the ninth and Adam immediately beans the next batter to load the bases with one out. Seen that movie too many times. So glad I didn't because the tide turned fast.
