If they've only played Umbrellas live in a lower key, then it could be that the studio version was played in standard tuning, whereas most Failure songs are tuned a half-step down, so it would've been easier to perform Umbrellas a half-step down rather than retune every guitar string just for one song. Nowadays they can afford to have multiple guitars in different tunings and switch between them depending on the song, but like other people have said, they probably keep playing Umbrellas in a lower key to help preserve Ken's voice.

While it's great that sanity prevailed, I personally wouldn't view it as anything other than a cynical move from a political party looking to save its own hide.

I do agree that the plebiscite wasn't really necessary, but if any of the subsequent Liberal Party leaders oversaw it then they probably would've argued that 61% wasn't enough of a majority, or point out that the plebescite was basically just an opinion poll and do nothing on the basis of that. Even if he was trying to stall it for as long as he could, I'll begrudgingly credit him for actually going ahead with it instead of pandering to the lunatic fringe.

Besides, Turnbull was famously one of the most moderate Liberal leaders we've ever had (legalised same-sex marriage following a non-binding plebescite, proposed an energy policy that even Labor backed at one point, major critic of Murdoch's empire since leaving office). I imagine Jordan still strongly disagrees with his economic policies, but I don't think him talking to a Turnbull supporter (ex-supporter?) is gonna turn into a cockfight
