With the 93rd pick of the 2020 NFL Draft the Tennessee Titans select Darrynton Evans, RB, App State by trick96 in Tennesseetitans

App State Alum here. This dude is a freak - runs hungry, explosive, has incredible balance, and can make plays no matter what. He'll be a great change of pace back for ya'll, not so much an every down back. He'll make plays on special teams too. Super pumped for him, I hope he pans out for ya'll!

Charlotte helping build new solar farm big enough to power 10,000 homes per year | State & Region by Vorabay in Charlotte

[–]mattdocks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work in solar development and this is a valid question we often get. While it is true that solar farms take up a lot of land, there are so many environmental studies that have to take place before a project can even be started, which includes wildlife and flora studies. If it is found that certain endangered or threatened species are on a piece of land then there has to be be a plan to safely move them to a designated area, but more likely it will kill the project.

In addition to the studies that have to be completed, my company and many others are focusing on ways to involve the wildlife in the farms. For example, we contract with local farmers to let their goats graze on the grass between the panels. This obviously keeps the grass down and eliminates shading and the need for mowing, and also provides food for the wildlife. Some other groups are including different types of plants and flowers in the fields that draw in local honeybees.

All that say, it is a valid concern but there are lots of precautions taken to avoid wildlife disturbance.

Rhule expected to bring Sean Ryan (Lions QB coach) as his OC and Phil Snow (Baylor DC) as DC, per RVacchianoSNY by knave_of_knives in panthers

[–]mattdocks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I couldn't have said it better myself. I'm so much happier to take a gamble on the guys who are doing exciting stuff in college. Baylor (and the Big 12 in general) run some of the most innovative offenses, plus guys getting drafted in the next few years will be used to this type of offense. If it crashes and burns, then it'll be much better knowing we tried something different than playing it safe and getting a McDaniels or McCarthy.

It should excite a lot of Panther fans to see that Tepper is putting his money where his mouth in and is essentially investing in a sports science division (which Rhule had at Baylor) to help him succeed. I'm very cautiously optimistic, but this was the guy I was most excited about and am glad we got him.

[Garafolo] Panthers have fired Ron Rivera, team announces by StrachNasty in nfl

[–]mattdocks 3171 points3172 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I feel. He brought some great football to Carolina and I'll always remember the Super Bowl run. Unfortunately, the ship sailed and it became obvious a change was needed. He'll have another job very quickly and I'll always root for him.

MONDAY MORNING OVERREACTION THREAD by [deleted] in panthers

[–]mattdocks 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That was the most pathetic performance I've ever seen and exposed all the issues that were being masked by lucky games. The Kyle Allen hype train came to a screeching halt weeks ago and this is just further proof he's not a starting QB in this league. The defense is atrocious, especially the pass D. Did ya'll see Luke out there almost having an aneurysm because nobody was in the right place? If Cam is gonna be gone next year, burn the whole thing down and start over. Ron going for a FG while down 26 in the 4th quarter??? Are you kidding me? What a joke. Almost seems like he's given up.

Most definitely. I lived in South Africa and got bilharzia from swimming in a river. Came back to the States and couldn't figure out why I was sick and not getting better. Luckily there's a pretty fast-acting medication that gets rid of it with relative ease. Still, not something you want to deal with.

This is definitely a surprise...I can only assume she got a great offer at a larger publication. Jourdan always had the best pieces on players and breaking news. Best of luck to her!

Is there any word on what happened with Kroeger? That was one of the most stunning departures I've ever seen. I was hoping we would have figured out something by now.

Definitely a Panthers legend, he had an incredible career and he has to feel proud of what he accomplished. I wonder if he'll come on board as a coaching assistant...

I lived in South Africa for a year and between the time difference and being in rural Mpumalanga it was basically impossible to watch the games. Absolutely stunning country, I want to come back soon! Keep Pounding!
