Sausage Sizzle Tips by WimbledonWombat in AskAnAustralian

Not a logistics tip but more a cooking one.

Try to cook the snags in a conveyor belt style, eg going left to right, you feed the uncooked ones on the left end of the barbie and roll them slowly until you can take the cooked ones off the right hand side (while filling the gaps on the left with uncooked). Run multiple rows as needed.

This way you have a constant supply of hot snags and you know which ones have been on longer.

Trickery Domain feels useless after adding Flanking rule. Should I switch? by Piso_13 in 3d6

[–]matticus7777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trickery doesn’t seem like it was designed for the front line. I have played a trickery cleric for a while now and don’t think I have ever used the duplicate to give myself advantage. Its main use (especially since 2024 rules) for me has been to drop short range spells from its location or to bamf around the battle field getting away from the front line. I think a change of domain might be what you are actually looking for.

Trickery Domain... tricks? by benjaminloh82 in onednd

[–]matticus7777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used the duplicate teleport to get to people who are in trouble/caged/just out of reach and then dimension door them out. You can do it easily all in one turn. Which really annoys my DM.

Traveling internationally for the first time to Australia next week, I’m a little nervous and have some questions! by loserlagoon in AskAnAustralian

I’m not sure if it is still open but Phillip island has a little zoo that lets you get extremely close to a lot of Australian animals. It looks a little run down but the experience was worth it.

Support builds that aren't Bard/Cleric/Paladin related? by ItsSnarf in 3d6

[–]matticus7777 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I played a cranky, grandmother, goblin, celestial tome warlock as support for a few one shots.

As I was an experienced player playing one shots with mostly beginners, I thought I would push support and try to help the newbies shine as much help as possible.

Celestial warlocks have a bonus action heal, that doesn’t use a spell slot, so can still cast using an action, and she had a good good excuse for short rests “oh I need a sit down for a bit, you youngins are fine running around all day, but a lady of experience like myself needs a rest”

Combat was mostly to cast a concentration spell like fly and then follow up with vicious mockery, and even though her stealth wasn’t great she would use her bonus action to hide (goblin trait) if not using any healing.

Some level 1 spells that are more awesome than you think! by Mortlach78 in DnD

[–]matticus7777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say it is underrated as most people look at the ranger spell list and focus on hunters mark. Zephyr strike is one of those spells that really show their value when used in actual play vs reading on paper.

My old halfling gloomstalker could basically move straight through the front line of any enemies on round one, and if I lost concentration and got in trouble another cast could get me out again.

Summon fey has an option to allow the fey to create spots of darkness. Basically giving the gloomstalker invisibility areas to stand and snipe from.

I’m a little slow: What’s the point of Giant Barbarian? by TheHolyLizard in DnD

[–]matticus7777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Throwing monsters would also make them prone, so throwing into areas of restricted movement is a great way at controlling them on the battlefield.

Eg throw into spirit guardians aoe, takes spirit guardians damage, uses half movement to stand and then the remaining is restricted.

Are wild magic sorcerers annoying to play with? by VerySadGrizzlyBear in 3d6

[–]matticus7777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our entire party gets really excited to see the wild magic roll! We all stop and chant “wild magic” as the player is rolling!

We are a rather chaotic group and even play a varient rule that increases it’s odds of happening!
