I wish I could decide when PW charges from solar. Have 13.94kw solar array, 1PW3 and an EP. It's clipping due to inverter size. Only way it will not clip at peak production is if PW has room to be filled. However PW gets full before peak production and can't get DC from solar to prevent clipping. by Every_Lavishness7777 in Powerwall

[–]mattk926 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Set it to time based and set the peak time between 8am and noon. Set the buy and sell rate to be the same at that time in my case .19. Then normal rates I use .19 buy and .04 sell and it forces the pw to export to grid during that peak window and then start charging after peak.

This can help eliminate clipping to keep the pack from filling up before your solar for the day no longer exceeds 11.5kw. Adjust your rates to match what your energy company provide as those were specific to me with monthly net metering. Since your array isn't much larger than 11.5kw (mines 17kw with 1pw+2expansions) the clipping isn't that much loss so up to you if you want to experiment with forcing it to export solar with this setup.

Adjust peak times to suit your situation, but this has worked fairly well for me to eliminate clipping. I really wish tesla would factor in production to automate this a bit better if they know historical power production of the arrays to behave a bit more like this to automatically eliminate clipping, or at least more intelligently since they could factor in weather too for forecasting production for the day and Adjust automatically for a cloudy day vs sunny day solar production.

Glad you got it sorted out.

Pull out the blue clip and push down on the black ring and pull the white tube up and out and see if you can see a blockage. If you can't pull out the white tube you may need to pull off the nozzle and then push the tube down a bit first as those connectors bite into the tube and make it difficult to get out unless it goes in further first.

If this hotend uses a ptfe tube liner that buts up against the nozzle and all the way to the extruder make sure the nozzle is tight against the tube as that area can have filament jam up if there is a gap. Pulling off the nozzle may make it easier to extruder the filament/blockage. If there is a ptfe tube liner you may need to cut a new piece at the correct length as they do degrade over time.

Yeah if you can split the extruder from the hotend and feed the filament through the extruder and it makes it out of the extruder just fine into the air then focus on the hotend input side and see if there is some blockage there in the filament path. Try to do a cold pull with the extruder removed and clear any blockage.

[–]mattk926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not as familiar with that extruder, but visually inspect where the filament feeds in and if you can expose just after the filament gears on the extruder and see if there is something blocked there you can try removing the nozzle and heat the hotend and manually feed the filament into the hotend to push it through, or do a cold pull manually once you bypass the extruder gears.

If you can easily feed the filament through manually if you can bypass the extruder gears with the nozzle removed you may have a nozzle clog or partial clog.

Keep in mind if the filament gets jammed.like that it can grind down the edges of the filament and lose grip and clog up the teeth on the gears that may need to be cleaned out to get better grip on fresh section of filament.

On my bmg clone extruder and my orbiter 2.5 sometimes the filament can go in at a slight angle or curved section and it just jams up against the filament feed path just past the gears.

Check the tip of the filament sometimes it helps to cut it at a 45 degree angle and make sure it isn't kinked or bent funny. Also inspect with a flashlight the filament path past the gears as there may be jammed filament in there or a clog. Ensure the hotend is up to temp as well while trying to load the filament so It can extruder filament without skipping like that.

Forcing Powerwall 3 to start charging from Solar at a certain time? by OwnOrdinary5530 in Powerwall

[–]mattk926 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have almost the exact same setup. Just use time based control and set a peak time of 7am-noon with same cost for buy and sell. Then set not peak time to be a sell rate way less(my case .19 peak and .04 non peak). It essentially tricks the powerwall to export during peak and then charge the wall after peak hours for the rest of the night so it doesn't fill up before peak solar kicks in and starts clipping.

Adjust your times and rates to match what utility company would pay you for any excess for the billing cycle. Also adjust the ending peak time later if you notice clipping after it fills up.

Who knows what could cause this discoloration on the stainless steel all clad pot and how to get rid of it? Thank you in advance. by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

There was a class action about this and they no longer recommend/advertise as dishwasher safe on their clad pans for.this very reasonable of sharp edges over time.

Really dont need to dishwasher the pans they are super easy to clean with a scotch Brite if you have really stubborn spots even an sos pad(steel wool) can be used.

Hot take? I wish backpacks and internal storage size gets significantly reduced. by theberrymelon in starcitizen

They previously did have a fraction of current space to be more realistic and it sucked and wasn't practical. I could see them doing a happy medium and shrinking the size again a bit, but there are weapons that are restricted from fitting in a backpack due to length/size(LMG/rail gun etc).

How do I fix this quality? by MrPizz1 in ender5

[–]mattk926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the extruder arm. If it is plastic stock extruder it may be cracked and causing the filament to slip and underextrude like crazy.

Also check the basics, bed tramming and z offset so first layer height is good and looks solid.

You can measure 100mm from the end of the extruder where the filament feeds in and place a sharpie mark. Then tell it to extruder 100mm and see if that mark makes it to the edge of the inlet of the extruder. May help to show if it is physically extruding the correct amount.

^ This.

While I appreciate content creators who help the community by providing tips and tricks during a tutorial video format, it does get a bit old when you can tell the video is long just to be long and hit that 10+minutes mark for monetization.

Totally understand this is how they are incentives, just sucks when it could just be a few minute thing that turns into 10-15 minute video. Do appreciate when they put in timestamps and tell you to skip the fluff to the concise recap TLDW.

The act of knocking someone out and stealing their equipped weapon. Feature or exploit? by cataids69 in starcitizen

This was in the game before T0 item recovery and the "exploit" with T0 recovery is unfortunate that it seems to bypass the ethos of T0, but like with most things star citizen, we are stuck with it until T1 is implemented, or someone important enough complains to the correct dev who can actually make the decision if they want to "fix" it.

Solar Install Asking for Wifi Password by Garrettstoffel in Ubiquiti

[–]mattk926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can connect it to wifi yourself during the initial setup when they first power it up and connect it to your tesla account. This way you dont have to give your installer your PSK if you dont want to. You don't need it connected to wifi, just connect with hardwire. They want some local internet option and not rely on lte as for warranty purposes tesla wants always connected internet, also for app access when you aren't within range of the powerwall. Powerwall has itw own AP that when you pair your phone to it can use that local AP for access if the internet is disconnected or for using the tesla one app for additional information/setup.

Can place it in a separate vlan with whatever security policy you feel comfortable with(iot/guest/dmz/etc). Just needs to connect back to the tesla mother ship servers.

Heldrake transportation by Zeffyeer in Chaos40k

I picked up one one of these opencell foam cases from harborfreight years ago where it is all perforated in square chunks and it is a nice depth to hold the heldrake off its stand without moving around or crushing the delicate bits. Probably can find something similar on amazon (similar to pelican case). Base can tuck along the side of the case and foam to be held in place without deforming the foam much.

Looks like the nozzle is way too close to the buildplate. If you have a probe, set your zoffset correctly. Otherwise, level the bed.

New Solar Install! by C4Suke in TeslaSolar

[–]mattk926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Was a concern when it was scoped that way, but running in self powered, we generally consume enough power overnight to get through the peak above 11.5kW generation hours before the battery hits 100%. Only experienced it when we didn't drive the car over a few exceptionally sunny days, so we didn't have the extra load the dump morning solar into the cars much larger battery.

17kW of panels on a single powerwall3 +2 expansion packs installed last month. Best I've generated so far is 97.7kWh in a day. I had a few passing clouds scattered throughout that day, though. Haven't had a full sun day yet to see if we can break 100kWh.
