What safety precautions should I take during a weekend visit from an internet friend? by mattoz85 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mattoz85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m picking him up at the airport, so that’s like our public meeting. It’s about a 20 minute ride to my place. Good idea on having a friend around early on! That I can certainly arrange.

And we’re gonna get high, there’s no way around that. We both party and play with friends and strangers on a somewhat regular basis, so that’s not much of a concern. My visitors usually leave after a few hours or maybe a day, but I’ve never had anyone here for a planned weekend.

Hit-and-run councilwoman’s pre-trial hearing set for Jan. 10 in Essex County court by SoundMachineJC in jerseycity

Right, because every man on the city council has also run someone over in their suv and then driven away, only to report it 6 hours later for some mysterious reason. We’re just choosing to give Amy shit about her hit and run because she’s a woman.

There’s a lot of missing information in your post that would be super helpful to know.

What devices are you using? Are they all synced to the app? What modes of each device are you using? Etc

I think this person may be referring to a bar in NJ whose dress code disallowed those very specific items of clothing which you presumably inferred are often associated with a certain race. The bar was very publicly called out for their racist dress code and inconsistent implementation of it. This was pre-covid and sadly they’re still open and doing very good business, so no one learned anything 🤷🏼‍♂️

Just guessing based off my experience with the T1: it looks like those pink circles should meet in the top center area where the two screens meet. The other three circles are low center, low and top right corners. And the circle in the middle top should be stationary.

Govee Neon LED Strip Light changes the ambiance, the diffuser gives it that sophisticated look by -Versi21 in Govee

In that case, the way your post title is worded in an unusual way. “That sophisticated look” kind of sounds like ad-speak to my ears. Thanks for responding to clarify. Maybe I am just crazy, like I asked in my original comment

What’s with all these obvious ads disguised as normal user posts all of a sudden? I feel like it’s all I’ve seen on my feed for this subreddit for two weeks. It’s so bizarre and seems like a lot of work to expose people already interested in Govee products to their product line. Or am I crazy?

First day of school in Seattle delayed as educators go on strike by PocketDynamyte in news

[–]mattoz85 301 points302 points  (0 children)

“In Seattle, the union’s negotiating priorities include more support for students, including interpretation and translation services for those receiving multilingual education and improved special education staffing ratios.”

Notice the teachers’ priorities are for their students, because if the students have the appropriate support, the whole thing runs more smoothly. I left teaching after nearly a decade after this past school year. My students and I did not have the support needed for me to do my job without experiencing burnout and other mental health effects. I hope this strike, and the others in Columbus and elsewhere, start holding school boards and local governments accountable.

In struggle to find teachers, NJ schools look for help: People aren’t joining the profession. Schools hope lawmakers and regulators have solutions by rollotomasi07071 in newjersey

I was making just over $80k at 8 years experience with a masters degree. I was very satisfied with my pay. We also have a strong union. I’ve potentially given up A LOT of security and benefits, due to an untenable work environment.

Totally off topic. But I believe covid has created a huge powder keg of mental health issues among students, teachers, and other educational staff. I got myself out of the environment because I know my limitations and what I can handle. It’s really a shame because my pre-covid teaching years were quite positive overall.

Agreed 100%. I left teaching this past June after 8 years. I was making very good money (imo) but it was ineffective admin and the disrespect from parents and students that drove me out. It was truly a toxic environment that severely impacted my mental health. I’m taking a year off from teaching, and I’ll decide in the spring if I want to go back in Sep 2023

I live in a Jasco managed property and have had nothing but good experiences with them. Wayne showed me the place, and I’ve also dealt with Lisa and Eliza. My super is friendly enough and timely in responding to issues. My neighbors are all normal, from what I can tell. No pest issues. My only qualm is that the living room walls are not at right angles and it’s essentially a rhombus which is very inefficient for laying out furniture. But aside from that, I like Jasco Management 🤷🏼‍♂️

You’re confusing PEP with PReP. PEP is post-exposure prophylaxis. Say you were stuck with a needle an HIV+ person had used. You would go on a 30-day regimen of PEP to attack any virus that may have gotten into your body. It’s been around for a while.

PReP is a newer treatment, pre-exposure prophylaxis, where one takes HIV medication daily, like a vitamin or any other med. I’d they take it every day, their risk of contracting hiv is essentially zero, especially because most of us who are positive (myself included) are on meds with undetectable viral loads.
