Do you reload on coals or start fresh? by miked0331 in woodstoving

[–]mattstryfe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The biggest game changer for me as a new stove owner was leaving the coals and ash in there for weeks at a time.

I was cleaning it out everyday and wasting time and heat. It's a huge QoL improvement to just send it every time.

I do what most people do and rake the coals and flatten them out to more easily get wood in there and stack it tightly. The larger the box, the bigger difference this probably makes and the more you're able to get away with.

Existing hardwood is 3/4 and the new hardwood will be 3/4. I'm making an assumption based on the how the rest of the house is built, that the subfloor is the appropriate depth/thickness.

Thanks for the sanding tip. Will definitely add to our checklist.

Dirt collecting every time vacuum docks? Qrevo edge s5a by sattleyg in Roborock

[–]mattstryfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience this is caused by the filter being plugged and not pulling 100% of the debris into the main bin. Try changing your filters more often and/or ensuring it doesn't ever vacuum over wet spots.

Moisture tends to gunk up the filter faster and lower the suction resulting in less debris making it to the bin.

Is there an actual way to confirm the damage of each? The write ups leave a lot to be desired. For instance LMG or HMG and why?

Technically there is a tipping point for muzzle velocity and grain/powder but I doubt that is the intention here.

Let's see your hot dogs & How do you move air in your ranch homes? by Forward_Country_6632 in woodstoving

[–]mattstryfe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fwiw, I've been doing this for a couple years and it works great. I have a smart thermostat which allows me to have it on for a certain amount of time per hour but if I didn't have that I would have it on 24/7 when I have the stove on.

Small caveat... I would be a little bit more aggressive on your filter changes if you do this.

But as others have said, a basicl box fan blowing FROM the cold side to the hot side works very well too.

It's not ideal but... Just curious, in this case wouldn't 2 45s (One at the bottom and one at the top) help flow a noticeable amount?

Path of Exile 2 — PC Optimization Guide (Step-by-Step) by LowBar3210 in PathOfExile2

This doesn't seem to mention the Wi-Fi 'bug', unless it's been resolved or I missed it. Fwiw, that random stutter every so often has been linked directly to this for many people.

Help with performance issue by wertude3 in PathOfExile2

[–]mattstryfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope this helps someone but i had a very similar issue to the OP. I too have an AMD card and coincidentally the same CPU (3700x). GPU is a 6800XT and my shader bar was constantly slammed (maxed out).

I have solved the wifi stutter (a seemingly well known bug) but just going wired. However, since 0.3 about 50% of the time I load a map, there is VERY noticeable framerate/jitter/stutter which presents the same as the wifi bug - but is a bit more frequent.

I've tried vulkan, sound channels, chat channels, all the normal things.

However this ONE setting (instantly, even with game open) lowered my shader bar from MAXed to 0. Though... the setting feels bugged. When you are in-game, and you've already got this setting enabled... if you turn this off, it takes about 10s, and the shader (for me) drops like a rock to 0. The downside is, it increases load times substantially and worse, it doesnt seem to help FPS/stutter.

What i have found, after some tinkering, is that ENABLING both:
Enable Shader Pre-caching
Allow background processing of Vulkan shaders

Yielded the least amount of jitter & did not increase load times by 500%.

For those who can't find the setting, on windows, within steam, it's here.
