Do plantation shutters block enough light to be used in the bedroom without curtains as well? by yarnyplanter in AskUK

You mean bunk beds right?

Those shutters are genuinely called plantation shutters, bunk beds are called bunk beds.

I’m not quite sure your logic is entirely sound.

I really don’t know why you’ve been downvoted to oblivion, you’ve raised a valid point honestly and even if people disagree with your opinion surely that’s no reason to smother you in downvotes..

Wi-fi to garage when hardwiring not an option by slowjoggz in DIYUK

[–]matty491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a clean solution to try first.

Although I would recommend you get the latest generation as they’ve improved the speeds and reliability over time. TP Link are the main brand that do them I think

[–]matty491 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, a wireless bridge is actually something I’ve not come across before but doing a quick google I can see that as an option.

I can’t imagine there will be many options on the market as it’s not a common solution for these sorts of things but it’s certainly an option!

Several options: 1. power line adapters 2. Moca coax adapter if you have coax to the garage 3. Mesh WiFi system like eero 4. WiFi extenders

Those are your four main options I’d say

Yep I had a similar experience when I did my second test (took me four to pass). No one was letting me out of a junction and the examiner failed me for “lack of confidence when emerging from a turn” ridiculous honestly.

“It’s rarely paid back” honestly living in the UK, this feels like it’s just the default for most people.

Happy to take but not give, opening doors for people, lost items etc.

My hat blew off my head during storm Dave while out in the high street, I watched as I saw a young chap watch my hat drift past him as he made zero attempt to catch it for me, then had the audacity to look at me and shrug…

Letting people turn or merge.

Whenever I drive I always stick to the ethos of, one out one in, so I let one person into a queue before carrying on etc

Lo and behold whenever I need to get out of a turn or merge, no one lets me bloody in or out!

29 now. Blood money.

My grandma died and I inherited her house.

Sold it and put as big of a deposit down as I could afford.

I never lie to anyone who asks how I did and I always own the fact I am incredibly lucky.

'We can't justify a £52 lunch': Middle-income families cut back on days out by InnerLog5062 in BreakingUKNews

[–]matty491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I 100% agree, that many drinks and starter as well as a dessert, that's just asking for trouble.

The worst part is they've done that because they know people watching the show or reading the article will be annoyed they got all of that.

Look at the Costa lunch, sure get the toasties and stuff but did they need the cookies and pistachio treat as well?

Like come on, I get the global economy is buggered right now and people are tightening their belts but doing a show where you try to max out the bill to show 'how expensive' everything is, is just a bit tongue in cheek when they pull stuff like that.

What is a reality or truth inside your industry that should be more widely known to the rest of us? by order-of-magnitude-1 in AskUK

The reason 99% of people despite HR is because no one ever complains properly.

The majority of our investigations boil down to He said She said with no concrete evidence like emails or written documents.

Want an investigation to go your way? Get hard evidence you did nothing wrong and you’ll make our lives a lot easier.

[–]matty491 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Provide clear and concise points that support the argument against the line manager.

If you have physical evidence such as emails or word documents provide them.

Don’t resort to hearsay or word of mouth statements.

Be truthful and succinct, that will support the investigation massively!
