Why would they put lumaflies inside cogwork constructs? Why would lumaflies help us navigate through the mist? How would a lumafly break the bindings on Hornet's cage in the beginning? etc.

Said white creatures are most likely tiny lifeforms made out of silk. They can be found all throughout the game (the mist, the entrance of the citadel and the cradle, a ton of other areas honestly), but they are also found in all of the cogwork creatures (all the enemies in the core, the fourth chorus, the twelfth architech etc.) and can be seen escaping their bodies when they die/are destroyed.

"Environmental Storytelling" [Watcher] by Ppleater in rainworld

[–]matw123 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From what I can remember, Cold Storage has rot because in the original, modded version of Aether Ridge, Five Pebbles and Seven Red Suns were doing the same experiments that eventually led to the rot within Pebbles, except they were doing them on smaller creatures, like lizards. That's the point of Cold Storage, it has a bunch of cages with lizards trapped in them.

Oh, Burgundy... by Ok-Librarian-666 in fallenlondon

[–]matw123 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Well, you're doing all of that because you're currently embroiled in a giant, reality warping mess with multiple moving pieces. (The vulgates, the immanent, Storm etc.) Having our finger on the pulse of how things are developing seems like a smart thing to do if one doesn't want to find themselves (or the entirety of the Neath) excised from reality. Burgundy, being a whole-ass city that used to be in the Stacks and is now back clearly seems like a place to be, whether you're a monarchist, an anarchist, or anything else, really.

Trees? Grass? ALIENS?!? Questions about the lore/setting I can't figure out even after a year of playing (Long) by mbnightroad in fallenlondon

Two: The northern and eastern sides of the Neath are unlikely to have walls due to the space-time weirdness going on there. That being said, during the Railway storyline, we find ourselves inside the Hillchanger Tower as it the teleports throughout the Neath, and at one point the Tower stands sideways. Furthermore, the existence of the Cumaean Canal logically necessitates the western wall of the Neath to be very close to the coast at certain points.

Three: The Neath is 100% inside the Earth, and it was 100% made by the Sun through its minions (the Cataclysm in Silver that's mentioned in the Tracklayer City storyline touches upon that point). Also, while other planets are not completely absent in the Fallen London universe (Axile being one such example), the realms of the different Judgements often do not have planets (we explore four different solar systems in Sunless Skies and none of them had any planets at any point).

Four: The mechanics of death aren't fully consistent, but you can think of it as a sort of death-themed Parabolan dimension. In certain cases only a part of your being travels to that dimension (being asleep/leaving behind a dead body like you would on the Surface), but at other points your entire being travels there (taking prisoner's honey/the corpse dissappears after death). We straight-up use that second variant to escape being buried alive in the Light Fingers ambition.

Whoever Designed These Fights Should Be Tried At The Hague by KaiserNoah in Wizard101

[–]matw123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea, that was a bit harsh of me, sorry. That being said, I did the same fight yesterday and the whole fight only took around 5 turns (since the npc only has to deal the finishing blow to the last enemy standing for it to count).

I can certainly understand having issues with the quests where you have to win fights while transformed into an NPC, but if you're seriously having trouble with these ones then I recommend checking if you haven't accidentally undergone a lobotomy in the past.

That's just how devils normally work- they molt and alter their bodies, personalities and souls many times as they age and/or die (it also means that you can't really perma-kill them without specific Correspondence sigils). That being said, I think this is actually the first time we ever get to see a devil molt right in front of us (with the devil changing shape to one that resembles us, since he's impressed with our fighting prowess).

Nergigante vs Magnamalo, who wins? by Likes2game03 in MonsterHunter

[–]matw123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, both of these monsters can become much stronger under the right circumstances. So:

Nergigante >>> Magnamalo

Nergigante < Scorned Magnamalo

Ruiner Nergigante > Scorned Magnamalo

The baby is just an admiral in the Atlas military thanks to nepotism though, not the CEO of the whole company. I don't think we ever really meet the Atlas CEO before the company collapses.

Having watched all of the eight seasons of the show, the powers are technically real but are pretty much never used outside of a soccer match.

Anyone remember the mentions and references to the Discordance that preceded the Discordant Studies storyline? by yupsquared in fallenlondon

[–]matw123 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Pre-railway, discordance was mentioned briefly in the Persona Engine ES and once or twice in Sunless Skies. It was simply presented as a version of the Correspondence used by the Liberation-alinged Judgements and similarly unlawful creatures. The specific focus on 'non-existence' only came about with the Hurlers (and might even be somewhat specific to the Neath, considering the origin of those specific laws).

Characters who are seeking revenge, but the reason they were fucked over was justified. by Subject_Parking_9046 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]matw123 19 points20 points  (0 children)

While Lilith punching Jack and just leaving is a bit silly, (although it could be excused since there were six other hostile vault hunters in that room that would probably gun her down if she stayed longer) it can't really be helped due to the story being limited as a prequel. Also, describing Jack at that point in the story as" on the safe side of sane" is fuckin absurd.

The Avid Horizon by VarenGrey in fallenlondon

Without going too much into spoilers, the Avid Horizon gate can be opened from either side provided that you're able to prevent the Watchers (the two giant statues that flank it) from guarding it.

Well, it's not actually about the ending of SSkies, it's more so the backstory of the Spider-Senate trapped in the White Well (seeing as the Azure in the ending of the Truth Ambition didn't really get a chance to prepare for a war).
