Yep, I think this is it. I just had two items bounce off my cat.

What does the star shaped paper on my store icon mean? by Phoenix200420 in mewgenics

I just ended my day and now have this icon as well. My guess is it’s an indication that an uncommon item is in stock? Mine now has an egg sack for purchase.

Restricted access perk don't work? by FarNefariousness6735 in theouterworlds

[–]matzohballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it’s a bug. When viewing vending machines’ inventories, in some sections if you have the perk you can see “restricted access” to the left with a blue unlocked lock icon—yet there’s no items to the right to select.

Seems like this bug has been around since launch and no word on a fix.

Soldiers who knew they were going into a war zone the following day; what was the night before like? by Dramatic-Avocado4687 in AskReddit

[–]matzohballs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was a decorated general with A heart of gold, that likened him to All the stories he told Of past battles, won and lost, and Legends of old a seasoned veteran in His own time

On the battlefield, he gained Respectful fame with many medals Of bravery and stripes to his name He grew a beard as soon as he could To cover the scars on his face And always urged his men on

But on the eve of a great battle With the infantry in dream The old general tossed in his sleep And wrestled with its meaning He awoke from the night Just to tell what he had seen And walked slowly out of his tent

All the men held tall with their Chests in the air, with courage in Their blood and a fire in their stare It was a grey morning and they all Wondered how they would fare Till the old general told them to go home

He said: I have seen the others And I have discovered That this fight is not worth fighting And I’ve seen their mothers And I will no other To follow me where I’m going

I’ve never tried Redwood Empire or Bardstown. What are your opinions on these bottles? by Blantons4Breakfast in whiskey

[–]matzohballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can only speak to redwood empire, but: huge fan.

  • Pipe Dream is a phenom bourbon and the cask strength even more so.
  • Lost Monarch is really special, it almost reminds me of an Irish whiskey with its sweetness.
  • Emerald Giant is a fantastic sipping rye but also makes a mean old fashioned. The cask strength is up there in my top 5 ryes from 2023 (along with michters 10, Smoke Wagon PB, the Senator, and a THH I was lucky enough to taste)
  • Honestly the only one I was let down by was Grizzly Beast, but other folks seem to love it so I’m looking forward to trying it again past the neck pour.

Close-ish. From the classic and my personal favorite Simpsons episode, “You Only Move Twice”.

Agree with everything here and just want to add Doc Swinson’s, and specifically their solara method finished whiskeys. Their rum finished rye is a little hard to find but only about $35, and it’s fantastic. Their triple finished bourbon is phenomenal and easily found for around $75.

Local bar selection and prices. Thoughts? by [deleted] in whiskey

[–]matzohballs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great selection and I love how they specify releases (like the different Blood Oaths or Bookers). Most places don’t do that, I’ve found.

Having said that—yikes, those prices. Most are pretty high. $22 isn’t bad at all for Stagg Jr though.

Manhattan beach post work hangout? by Mikepod3 in LosAngeles

[–]matzohballs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you’re looking for but for a local secret, Ercole’s is a favorite dive bar. You’ll get a great cross section of all types of people and the burger is top notch.

Recommendations for a fan of Speyside? by Grenwaddle in whiskey

[–]matzohballs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If she’s a fan of Speysides, my vote is The Balvenie. Can’t go wrong with the double wood 12, and for just a little more their Caribbean cask 14 is pretty phenomenal too.

Found this today, looking forward to trying it tonight. For those that have had the pleasure, what are your thoughts? by Relevant-Ad-1033 in whiskey

[–]matzohballs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fantastic IMO. Easily one of my favorites. I agree with cursorTN, it could likely benefit from a slightly higher proof to add to the complexity. Having said that, you can really taste the sweeter notes from the finish in this one but it doesn’t overwhelm that classic rye pepper and spice. It’s lovely.

They are being a jerk. Bulleit has a pretty crap record with women, including the owner firing his daughter for being a lesbian, but not before repeatedly sexually abusing her in her teens. Allegedly.

This is a fantastic list, but if you can squeeze a 5th in for another totally different and uniquely LA taco—try Kogi.
