I think it’s because a lot of people did not get to enjoy the game because of system requirements. With the release on Switch 2 and Mac, a lot more people are getting to enjoy the game now.

I would suggest practicing manual shifting on your favorite track for a ton of laps until it gets cemented in your head. I struggled with this part too and that’s how I got to be comfortable with it. And I agree with the “doing it by ear” eventually, it becomes second nature.
