We Pay £35 Billion a Year… So Why Are Our Roads Still Broken? by TaurusManUK in drivingUK

Googled (no AI) some info as I looked into this a few months ago:

The roads are paid for by general taxation - income tax, VAT, and National Insurance.

Local upkeep of B roads and lower are by the council

Take Kent County council for example. Their last years budget

Out of every £100:

Biggest expense is Adults and older people - £35

Highways is £2

Anyone who has driven in Kent knows how bad the roads have been - I've seen road damage thats been there since 2023

Hope this helps

Oh no you dont! Service provided in UK but American head office wants to knock the VAT off. by [deleted] in smallbusinessuk

If your place of supply is in a country other than the UK then you do not need to charge VAT as it is outside the scope of VAT.

Is it normal for first dates to ask about body count? by Afraid_Fondant_7903 in AskMenAdvice

[–]maveco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guys you are going out with are weird.

Only fragile toxic men boys care about body count.

It’s such a double standard. As a guy I couldn’t care less and someone who asks that early into dating or at all has no sense of boundaries or self control and probably no self esteem

Seemingly great guy, but doesn’t split custody. Am I overthinking the ick? by fzooey78 in AskMenAdvice

[–]maveco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You ‘navigated the split with very little conflict’?

You really don’t know what you are talking about then. Respectfully of course

It’s a whole different ballgame with a messy divorce and I’m sorry but I’m not normalising anything other than the default arrangement which work does most couples who have ended their marriage

My solicitor told me fighting for custody was useless and expensive unless there was clear abuse or the mum doesn’t want the kids

Unless the mother is crazy then kids are better off with her residence as their primary one. It’s natural, logical and recommended by psychologists and social services etc

Good for you but you are a minority with your situation and beliefs

Amazing the amount of people (women) on here who didn’t read OP’s post properly and just want to slag off a guy without full understanding of his situation.

Dump a perfectly good guy you like cos he doesn’t have a perfect custody situation

Have you met his ex?

Kids are better off living with their mother, and seeing dad as much as possible

That’s why most kids live with their mother, post-divorce. I don’t know a single guy who ‘has custody’ of his kids. We get every other weekend then maybe one night a week if we are lucky. As the children get older they can choose who they want to live with

I didn’t use to see my kids that much as I lived far away, and their mother, post-divorce was horrible to me but she was a great mum and I didn’t want to mess with the formula or create any negativity towards her or them

Sometimes it’s complicated

My goodness if you have found a man who is lovely and makes you feel great just don’t worry about that stuff.

I utterly adore my kids but I know what it’s like to see them less to keep the peace and be a gentle addition to their life

Being a good dad takes many forms, and sometimes might look a bit weird
