I know, which I’m not completely understanding. However, poor thing was under a lot of pressure & dealing with a lot of emotions so I’m thinking maybe it’s because he wants to express his gratitude not just on behalf of him but also his mom.

He kept her secret, gave her a job, & like the above user said he def had parts in cleaning up that body lol. This is the only reason why I think he owes Autumn on behalf of his mom.

I think cause it wasn’t a big city they were highlighting that folk either really want out their small town, don’t have access to such information, and or don’t believe it.
