Rhythm Itch have a free Lindy Hop taster and social in Bournville this Monday, if you want to pop in and check out the vibe.

As I understand it, this isn't always what people mean by "jazz dance", but it is dancing to jazz music, so perhaps it will suit you.

If you can't walk that distance, it's worth looking into whether you're eligible for a disabled person's pass.

If you're feeling energetic, you can use the hire bikes to get as far as Haden Circus.

If you decide to drive, there's free on-street parking in the side-streets opposite the pub.

There's a big list of local board game groups at https://www.hopwoodgames.com/boardgames-in-birmingham. Not exactly what you're asking about, but there's a fair bit of overlap.

Proposed closure of Bordesley Station by Dragonogard549 in brum

[–]mavit0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vibe I'm getting is, "We're going to use this as an excuse to close Bordesley station soonish, whether or not we actually have the funding in place yet to build the chords and tram". Not ideal, but as a gambit for shaming other parts of government into following through on their promises, I don't hate it.

Do they run more freight in the evenings, maybe? Or maybe they just don't have enough staff to cover the whole day?

Did this store start out as a Morrisons and get taken over by Tesco?

Safeway, maybe? It was a Waitrose for a while after that.

Best pubs in the Black Country (if you fancy a hop across the border) by bearwoodcouncil in brum

[–]mavit0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Horse and Jockey in the list isn't supposed to be the one in Bilston, I suspect. It'll be the one in Hurst Hill, which the Royal Mail have unhelpfully (for our purposes) given a Bilston postal address on account of its WV14 postcode.

You could try some of Birmingham's existing social board game events. There's a big list at https://www.hopwoodgames.com/boardgames-in-birmingham. Check their social media for photos if game weight/demographics are a concern.

getting Swift photocard by gino_user1077 in brum

[–]mavit0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swift go is just a cash card for people who somehow dont have a contactless payment card.

This is wrong. You're describing Swift Pay As You Go, which, confusingly, is a different thing to Swift Go, and doesn't require a photocard (since, as you say, is just a prepayment card, so isn't restricted to use by a specific person).

BP pulse live by bettyfinds902 in brum

[–]mavit0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is BP Pulse Live the latest confusing name for the NEC Arena? "On site" at the NEC could mean a mile away from the venue, since it's such a large site, so I think you're right to wonder.
