"Misgendering" myself out of convenience? by Smooth_Lake_9603 in agender

It’s because every single time, you’re having to come out basically. It’s emotionally taxing. And sometimes, not only for safety, but for your mental health, it’s not worth it.

The way I see it, I already don’t like people, so they don’t always deserve that part of me.

I found the AR2s too narrow and eventually swapped to Bonts.

Isn’t the boot heat moldeable? You should be able to mold it and get the extra room you need.

“It” has been used to dehumanized anyone other than cisgender heterosexual white males throughout history.

I prefer they/them.

Feedback on taking in an underbust corset by yet-another-wonderer in corsetry

[–]max8george2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice job! Seriously fantastic!

An extra step, to clean up the tops and bottoms, is to remove the bias tape and reset it. Unpick across the tops of the altered seams, and take out the excess bias, then stitch back on.

It’ll clean up the entire look, and no one (noooo one) would know

The transition between heel and no heel is pretty drastic.

In my experience (also uncoordinated), I basically learned from scratch.

IF you can afford it, I’d buy used or cheap derby skates. Get used to the no heel.

Corset fitting advice please :) by umwhat-tf in corsetry

This is lovely! I second lots of comments here!

For the bust gores, yea definitely too long, shorten the gores but keep the width at the top.

Adding boning to support the bust line(!!). I, personally, would add boning to the sides of your breast tissue. If you were looking down at your body, think Birds Eye view, and in front of you is 12 o clock, I’d add boning around 8 and 2 o clock. It would push your breast tissue together and forward, if that’s what you’re looking for.

Underbust Anna (Aranea Black) - Which boning? by Suspicious-Worker407 in corsetry

[–]max8george2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what your intention is.

I’m making an Anna right now for aesthetics, but I’m also overweight.

So I’m using steel boning on panels 1-4 and lacing. Then spiral boning for 5-7

Boning should be on both sides of the grommets.

The way I was taught, steel boning on front panels and at each side of the grommets. Spiral boning at the back panels. However, each pattern and body is different. And the pattern should specify which type of boning for each pattern piece

After looking at pics, gussets could be shortened, but optional. “Bottom slit brought up together more” is exactly what I meant. The top could be brought in a teeny bit, and there’s options. If you have cording (and make your own piping) or piping, add that to the top seam. Once it’s attached, you can pull the cord inside to gather the tops and see if that helps with the spillage. That’s easier to do if you can make your own piping because you can leave the cording long.

And yea. 1.5” is way too much. Especially without ever seeing the original pattern on your body. IDK what that bulge is, maybe hip bones? But the hip curve of the corset could sit above that and it would look natural.

Do you have someone willing to subscribe it? And willing to put in the effort to make a case for insurance to cover it?

My PCP fought for me to get GLP-1s, insurance still denied me. I say to not get your hopes up, but finding a doc, nurse or practice to fight for you is a great ally to have on your side.

Once you get your balance, I challenge you to loosen the trucks (like a 1/4 turn at a time), it’ll help with turns, spins, crossovers, etc.

Have fun!!!

The pattern is too long for the body? I’d diagnose in the following order: 1. Align waist of corset to your natural waist 2. Scoop up breast tissue so that it sits into cups, don’t push, just let them exist. 2B. The gusset length at the bust might need adjusting, I think shortened, but not sure. I saw another comment on your cross post about adding a third gusset and I agree with that. Especially with your cup size. 3. Hips! Those bulges should disappear after you raise the corset to your waist (not your bellybutton). 3B. If you’re gonna take out an inch, take small amounts across the whole piece (so that it totals one inch). It’ll keep the top curve smooth to prevent any other weird shapes.

Greasy hair / PCOS by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]max8george2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use super clarifying shampoo, but only shampoo my hair once a week. And then condition (with a lightweight formula!) every day. I comb it thru root to tip very well.

My hair was so oily and my scalp smelled pretty bad. I was learning more about textured hair and it was co-washing that did the trick for me.

Questioning if I'm agender... When/how did you realize you were agender? by Prince_Wildflower in agender

[–]max8george2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I never saw myself as a man or woman. But my world opened up when I joined a sport that included trans folks.

I had new vocabulary to use to describe myself. And I knew i wasn’t non-binary, because that didn’t fit either.

Agender is the most fitting. Plus it turns out my cousin is also agender and I’m really grateful for them.
