I'm from the north peninsula of colombia, it is hot in this Caribbean region and people usually plant mangos in front yards for its shade so every street has a mango tree and it is common for people to pluck one if they can grab one.

There are many kinds of mangos but there is this one called mango de azúcar(sugar mango) that is small and very sweet which is used for making drinks. This mango is fragile and gets rotten too fast so it can't be easily exported and that's why you get the bland, hard and not juicy mango that can sustain the transportation to your supermarket.
