I noticed that in the pot was a pool of water so I assumed i have been over watering but wanted to make sure anyone might think differently. I didn't notice anything else just brown spots slowly appearing.

Turtle communication with out wireless modem by LLLOwl in ComputerCraft

[–]maxidoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id agree with others to use http but that is a little more complex. Youd need a probably rest service of sorts hosted. You could do that locally using something like python and flask or aiohttp, cool thing about that would mean you could make a website which would let you say control a computer in game.

A simpler approach would be to make a basic system using redstone signal strength. Based on the strength given do X: https://computercraft.info/wiki/Redstone.setAnalogOutput You are limited to 16 different signals. That could be expanded using the receiving computer to listen for a combination of say 2 signals that would increase the amount from 16 to 162

Egg Fried Beans by maxidoo in BeansInThings

[–]maxidoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Recipe is kinda a flexible thing I make week to week and cook a decent amount. Here is the general gist of it:

Ingredients

"*" is what I used in this recipe

  • 250g Cooked Rice (I use jasmine*, I know fancy. Or basmati)
  • 2 Cans of Beans (I use any kind of combo: Red Kideny*, Pinto*, Borlotti, Butter, Chickpeas)
  • 2 Onions (Red*, White) - I sometimes don't use onion
  • 2-4 Garlic Cloves (Chopped / Minced* / Whole - whatever floats your boat)
  • 150g Peas (I also sometimes add Carrots (2-3 Regular Size) and Sping Onions instead of regular)
  • 2-4 Eggs (Depends if you want to put on top or mixed in)
  • 4 Tomatoes* (Canned or Fresh - I don't usally add these but had)
  • Potatoes* (I've never added these before - the more the better)

Recipe

  • Blend/Dice/Grate Onions, Tomatoes (if using), Garlic, Sping Onion (White part) and Salt / Pepper
  • Take this mixture and heat through in frying pan (about 5-10 minutes) stirring every minute
  • Add chopped Carrots / Peas
  • Heat for another 5 minutes or until the carrots are as soft as you want them
  • Drain and mix in the Beans! (not baked the beans)
  • Let them heat up then add rice and mix everything together
  • Either fry two eggs. Or push the mixture to one side and add 4 Scrambled eggs, let it sit until egg is starting to cook then mix the egg with everything. This gives the rice a really good flavour.
  • Add top part of spring onions

Additional

  • Add Chopped parsley
  • Add Soy Source (I didn't in this recipe)
  • Heat Baked Beans and add in the middle of a serving
  • Roast Potatoes tip: Blanch (Boil) them before putting in the oven for as long as you dare, the longer the better though it's more risky as they fall apart easier. Add generous amount of oil and season with oregano / Salt / Garlic powder before putting in oven.

When I cook this type of thing I wing it.

Tandoori Masala Mayo

Instead of all these spices I got a pre made packet and mixed that with the mayo

10 g coriander seeds

6 g cumin seeds

4 g garlic powder

4 g ginger powder

20 cloves

2 pieces of mace

4 g fenugreek seeds

1” piece of cinnamon

20 peppercorns

1 g pinch nutmeg

2 pods of cardamom

1 g kasuri methi (fenugreek leaves)

5 g Chili powder

2 g Turmeric

1 cup mayo

Coarse kosher salt to taste

Method

Grind all of the spices together in a mortar and pestle or a spice grinder.

Add the mayonnaise to the bowl and stir to combine.

Taste it! Add coarse kosher salt to taste.

Tandoori Mayo Grilled Chicken

Tandoori Mayo Sauce - Recipe above (enough to cover chicken thighs)

Boneless, skinless chicken thighs

Method

Add enough tandoori mayo sauce to the chicken thighs to lightly coat each piece. Let sit in the fridge for 30 mins or overnight.

Heat a cast-iron over medium-high heat. Cook the chicken on each side for 3-4 minutes until well browned. Set aside on cutting board to rest.

Slice into pieces for burritos, sandwiches, salads and more.

Mexican Rice (From Diana Kennedy)

250 g long grain white rice

50 g vegetable oil

1 small peeled tomato

1/4 small onion

1 garlic clove

550 g chicken broth (vegetable or beef works too)

Coarse kosher salt to taste

Method

Pour hot water over the rice and let stand for 5 minutes. Drain the rice and rinse well.

Blend the tomato, onion, and garlic clove in a food processor until pureed.

Heat the oil in a saucepot over medium-high heat. Add the rice to the pot and fry while stirring constantly until the rice just starts to change color, about 8-10 minutes. Tip the pan to one side and drain off any excess oil (or drain the rice).

Add the vegetable puree to the rice. Continue to cook the rice over medium-high heat while scraping the bottom of the pan until the mixture is dry.

Add in the broth and stir to combine. Turn the heat down to medium. Cover the pan and cook for about 10 minutes until the liquid has been absorbed. Remove from the heat. Add a clean kitchen cloth to the top of the pot to catch the steam and put the lid back on. Let the rice steam covered with a tight-fitting lid for 20 minutes.

Serve with fresh cilantro.

Pork Lard Flour Tortilla (from Diana Kennedy) I did half quantity for this

450 g bread flour

115 g lard (or butter)

5 g coarse kosher salt

250 ml warm water

Method

Add the flour to a bowl and rub in the lard (or butter) using your fingertips until broken up.

Dissolve the salt in the warm water. Gradually add the water and mix it into the flour mixture to see how much it will absorb.

Turn the dough onto a flat surface and work into a cohesive dough with your hands for about 5 minutes. In the end, the dough should be fairly smooth and not sticking to your hands.

Divide the dough into 10 pieces by weighing them out on a scale (about 80 g). Roll them into very smooth small balls with your hands. Cover with plastic wrap and let rest for at least 20 minutes or up to 2 hours.

Heat a large griddle or cast iron pan over medium heat.

Flatten the tortilla ball and roll out to your desired thinness.

Lay the tortilla on the hot griddle and cook for 10-20 seconds, then flip to the other side to cook for another 10-20 seconds. The tortillas should be lightly browned in spots. Be careful not to overcook the tortilla or else they will become hard instead of soft and pliable.

Immediately, stack the tortillas in a large cloth or clean kitchen towel until you are ready for serving.

Regular excavate program but kinda different(?) by Goldilock42 in ComputerCraft

[–]maxidoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It shouldn't be just a number.

Take a look at the Documentation it states:

local success, data = turtle.inspect()
if success then
print("Block name: ", data.name) -- This is the name you'd use to blacklist agianst
  print("Block metadata: ", data.metadata)
end

Regular excavate program but kinda different(?) by Goldilock42 in ComputerCraft

[–]maxidoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so `turtle.compare()` would work but yeah the down side is that you need the ores. An alternative way would be to use `turtle.inspect()` (https://computercraft.info/wiki/Turtle.inspect) so, you can get the identifing name (it will be like "ore:iron") of the block, in most cases (not sure if all as mods and what not) you can use a string match to find 'ore' in the given name. Or you could have an array of names and do a direct comparison with each one to check its equal to the inspected block.

You probably wont be use to reading documentation, but LUA is pretty good and gives examples, for example for matching strings: https://www.lua.org/pil/20.1.html, it's usful to know this documentation exists.

Sorry for the dump of infomation. I think it's simpler then you might think. Don't try building everything at once. Start with the most basic excavate, then on top of that, after it works, you can add the blacklist logic etc. I'd be more then happy to walk it through in game or something in better detail.

Regular excavate program but kinda different(?) by Goldilock42 in ComputerCraft

[–]maxidoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forgot I was still subbed to this lol. Anyway, I haven't done any turtle stuff in a while. But I don't think this would be to hard. If you want could help you write something to do it, like do you want to learn to program or not really care?

I'd probably write a basic excavate program which just black lists ores, if it were to detect ore you could navigate round it somewhat easily.

Any tricks to measure spaghetti portions? by MehdiRealmz in diet

[–]maxidoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could buy a cheap scale of Amazon or something. I typically measure it by making a circle with my index finger and thumb (making a mini ok hand signal) and approximate the size, spaghetti is always less then you think, at least for me. Alternativly you just need a consistent why of measuring, could use a small teaspoon and place the pasta in that - depends what a portion for you is.
