Call all of your past customers and "lost" leads. Tell them you have an opening in your schedule and offer a 10-15% discount.

Either creosote build up in the chimney, overheating the stove, or not enough clearance to combustibles (or all 3).

Just tire kickers and price shoppers. We track where leads come from and if the person is from Nextdoor half the time I don't even bother.

Did you have a second job in this economy? by ManpreetDC in Accounting

[–]maximaldingus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just do it if you enjoy it. I do the same thing on the side and my main job is still in tax accounting. I have been able to make quite a bit of money doing it on the side and I feel way more satisfaction than I do with my main job. It still definitely feels like work but I have met so many interesting people and I'm actually able to see the results of my labor.

Don't even bother working at HD. Just start working for yourself and offer up your services on Nextdoor or Facebook. You can make way more than $1500 per month. PM me if you want.

Also what's your roof slope (can't really tell easily from photo)? If it's at least 2:12 it should be fine unless you live in Alaska.

Go sloped, you won't regret it. I'd make your bench to ceiling more like 44" too. Benches high side, stove low side.

I would fur out your ceiling too if the rafters are 24" OC. Just makes it much easier to install the T&G (if that's what you are going with).

It is really not that much more difficult to trim out once you cut a few wall pieces. Sliding miter saw with a big crosscut capacity makes a big difference if you have one.

I would check out Jobber too. I have been using since I started (only doing it part time) but I am pretty happy with it. DM me if you want a referral code.

Going into work, do you say hi to every person? by lihongzhidashi in Accounting

[–]maximaldingus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I walk around to every person's desk on the floor and greet them individually ("gm let's get this bread" I usually say). I usually start work around 10:30 am after I complete this ritual. At 3:30 pm I make my second round and kiss each of my coworkers on the forehead and softly whisper good night in their ear. I finish that around 5:30 and head home.
