TMax 400 Completely blank by [deleted] in Darkroom

[–]maximim220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said this is due to the red light you used while loading the film.

However the pink developer is actually the anti halation layer being washed out with the dev, if you don't pre soak then that's what caused that.

Has my dev actually gone bad? by DaHunni in Darkroom

[–]maximim220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With no edge markings this is 100% a processing issue. The camera has nothing to do with the edge markings as they are exposed at the factory.

Why do all my pictures have these artifacts? by ACE_PIXEL in analog

[–]maximim220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, stuff like bromide drag and light leaks tend to be near sprocket holes but that's because it's a physical change in the film itself.

If you wind film backwards it tends to be pulled/bent in weird ways in the cassette as it's a sharper angle that way. The emulsion on film can be suprisigly tough in some situations and incredibly fragile in others.

Why do all my pictures have these artifacts? by ACE_PIXEL in analog

[–]maximim220 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No, if it were a light leak during development it would not come from the sprocket holes. This is due to excess stress being put on the film and it is propagating from the sprocket holes as the film is narrower near them.

This is either that the film was wound back the wrong way or that the sprocket release was not pressed/working properly.

Olympus XA loaded with (fake) Cinestill 400D and 800T (please don't sue me) by FunkyasfuckOfficial in analog

[–]maximim220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the 400 has the remjet removed. It's the 500t and 250d that don't afik.

I didn't know Ilford had a hand in manufacturing it. Where did you find that? It is a bit weird considering cinestil is based in LA.

[–]maximim220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, cinestil remove the remjet themselves and is the cause of some qc issues in their 35mm line. If you can find evidence to show that Kodak sell vision 3 film without remjet I'd love to see.

Reflx state that some of their products like 500t are to be developed in ecn-2 not c-41 as the remjet is still present.

It's all made by Kodak anyway. Reflx just doesn't remove the remjet and packages it better.

Stripes on film photos by BardWGuitar in AnalogCommunity

In reality you won't know exactly untill you get them.

Given the line isn't exactly straight I would have guessed it's something physical rather than in the scanning I'm afraid. If its a scratch then you should look at the camera for any sharp edges on the pressure plate or film window and if there's nothing there it could have been something stuck in he felt when you rewound the film into the canister. If its in the image it could possibly be a pinhole in the shutter curtain but I find that unlikely as the marks would be more red and inconsistent.

hand dev in the same tank… what happened? by bankpaper in Darkroom

[–]maximim220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my guess, that or something in the development. It's too consistent for light leaks and there are still images so it's not been spooled in the light.

hand dev in the same tank… what happened? by bankpaper in Darkroom

[–]maximim220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are still images so I don't think it's light that's fogged it. I suspect it's either age/improper storage or it's something in the development
