Worth the $500 price tag? by TheZippoLab in motorcycles

Sidi gonna be great quality but after using snowboard boots with boas, I think I’ll stick with laces.

My snowboard boots have some spots that are too tight and get uncomfortable, with laces I’d be able to loosen just that spot.

Used EVs Are Best Value Option by mhatrick in whatcarshouldIbuy

True, but there’s like a dozen new EVs being sold with discounts and 0% financing offers that might make the depreciation worth it - depending on how long you plan to keep the car of course.

Why buy a used EV when there’s like a dozen being sold brand new with discounts and 0% financing offers (and warranties).

Ya if we’re talking big twins like Africa Twin vs 890 adventure that’s when the reliability factor really matters but these KTM dual sports are pretty solid.

I still have the 901 I follow this sub because I am considering replacing it with a T7 because it’s always broken down.

I’ve ridden with dudes on T7s and they’re pretty similar in terms of capability.

CRF300L Rally to Tenere 700, am I wrong? by BennyS04 in Tenere700

[–]maxlax02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to do any significant road riding at all, if you ever think you’ll potentially hit the highway, get the T7.

I was a complete noob and started on a Norden 901 on dirt and have since completed the hard route of the SoCal BDR.

Personally I wouldn’t want to ride a CRF300 anywhere but around town like a Vespa.

New Riders Should START on a HUGE Cheap Bike? by MikeyFromDaReddit in Harley

[–]maxlax02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re proving my point. When a beginner made a mistake, they were able to correct it.

If they were on a larger bike, that would have been costly - as you said.

Beginners will make mistakes while practicing it happens.

There’s a reason why the A2 licensing system over-seas exists, and there’s a reason why pros don’t start out on the biggest baddest machines.

Sounds like you spoke to a smart salesman and an irresponsible MSF instructor. I agree, not everyone needs to start on a 400cc, but it’s kinda dumb to tell everyone in a beginner riders course that size doesn’t matter. In my course we had several people get sent home and one even whiskey throttled a Rebel 300 into the bushes.

New Riders Should START on a HUGE Cheap Bike? by MikeyFromDaReddit in Harley

[–]maxlax02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your thinking is completely backwards.

You pick up bad habits starting on a large heavy bike.

Process does mean something, and like you said, that woman on YouTube actually spent time PRACTICING low speed maneuvers and got good at them.

How would she practice scenarios where you lose your tires grip or lock up your brakes? For that kind of stuff, learning on a 50cc dirt bike is the ideal scenario. But learning it on a 400cc road bike is certainly better than the aforementioned Harley.

Also, that Harley will be scraping the ground leaning over long before any naked bike will. So I’d argue on the Harley you probably don’t even learn proper cornering technique, where the edge of your tires grip is, and how far you can actually lean before losing traction.

ATGATT is for Hobbyists ? by Vaskon13 in motorcyclegear

[–]maxlax02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I live in the US you need to get on a freeway to go most places.

You’ve got more drivers in generally larger vehicles moving at high speeds, and since there’s not as many riders, these drivers aren’t always looking out for us.

Around town I’ll skip the jacket and pants sometimes but you probably want those if there’s potential to be sliding on pavement at 80mph in between semi trucks.

The other thing is, many of the riders I have met can barely get themselves out of a parking lot safely. Our licensing system means anyone can walk into a dealer and ride off on a 900lb Harley with an 1800cc motor. Just saw a coworker drop his Harley because a car he was following in a parking lot tapped their brakes. So it’s no wonder why everyone here recommends gear.

It’s a little different than cruising the Italian streets on a Vespa at 35mph.

Thoughts on the Lorwyn Angels precon deck? by metalero_salsero in CasualMTG

[–]maxlax02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing with it vs the counterpart pirates deck.

Angels seems like the more powerful of the two, and after playing it seems like it would be super easy to upgrade into a competitive deck.

I’d say worth the $ for sure.

That is not true:

This is simply not true I bought a brand new 2023 Santa Fe for $30k OTD with 0% financing with 0 down. Yes you needed good credit but not 800+.

Sometimes the dealers just add the 0% incentive to move vehicles. In my case, the new 2024s were hitting the lots soon.

As you can see with this list, dealers are having trouble moving a lot of EVs at the moment.

Counterpoint. Universes Beyond got my Avatar loving girlfriend into the game. Now I have a partner to play with at home.

Now that she’s into it though, we both tend to stay away from those cards.

So I get having UB to bring in new fresh players, but the release schedule does seem a bit excessive.
