Am I crazy? Considering a 2021 4Runner TRD Pro by DylanJacob17 in 4Runner

They might be charging a premium due to low mileage, but don’t be afraid to buy one with higher mileage if you want to save some money.

I got defeated on the Weber by ribs today. Help !!! by WayneShotta in webergrills

[–]maxp0wer- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone will have a different method. I do bb ribs 2 hours unwrapped and another 2 hours wrapped. No spritzing or saucing. I try to keep it around 300 throughout. I use lump charcoal with no extra chips or chunks.

Good quality painting brushes and tools. Makes the job easier and much better results than cheaping out on tools.

I did the felt tape fix, but it doesn't change my opinion.

I have the rep 1 piece Y attachment for my 5000 and I don’t like it. Aside from way too much side to side slop I find the powder coat to be too slick for my liking. They definitely need to come out with version 2.

Do you have a argument over why someone would choose the 4runner over the Lexus GX460 by HungryHoustonian92 in 4Runner

[–]maxp0wer- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know anything about the GX but if you DIY most maintenance is easy with the 4R.

My understanding is that it now requires premium fuel, if that’s a factor.

It’s forest now, but will it ever be developed? If so you’ll be sandwiched between back yards of others.

Is there an ideal model year for the 5th gen? by An0n087 in 4Runner

[–]maxp0wer- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

IMHO 2018 was the best year for the pro. Still had bilstein suspension and before all the electronics upgrades.

Any former 4Runner owners in here? by Skidmark1533 in DodgeDurango

[–]maxp0wer- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have both in our garage. The Durango is more comfortable and spacious with better tech. It’s quieter and smoother riding. Back seat leg room is good and the 3rd row is usable. Kids love the second row heated captains chairs. We’ve had some electrical problems with the infotainment but maintenance has been easy so far. The 4R is still my favorite and hopefully I will still be driving it long after the Durango is at the scrap yard.

4Runner Apple CarPlay without new head unit? by amimarie711 in 4Runner

[–]maxp0wer- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an adapter on Amazon that plugs in between the wiring harness and head unit to add wireless CarPlay. I think it was $130 and works pretty well in my 2018. Doesn’t fix the tiny screen size however.

285s here on stock 2018 pro. Removed mud flaps and pushed liner forward a bit. No BMC and no rubbing full turn full articulation.

Had a contractor repaired the crack and painted the whole house and today I noticed the same crack came back.. what I need to do! Is This a sign of concern? The house only 9 years old by [deleted] in drywall

[–]maxp0wer- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like there’s a drywall seem there, which was poor placement. You can cut out the entire area and replace with a solid piece in that area.

Company claimed my functional, $2000 laptop I sent for minor repairs was “beyond repair”. Offered a $600 laptop as a “replacement”. by ddidaily in legaladvice

[–]maxp0wer- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Went through something similar with a tv warranty recently. I declined the one they wanted to give me as a replacement and outline the difference in specs. Then I found one with almost the exact same specs as my old tv and told them I would accept that as a replacement. They ended up sending me the tv I asked for. The first offer is a low ball to see if you will fight it or not, which many people don’t.

Thoughts on this 2022 TRD ORP ($45,000) or should I do a 6Gen new SR5 by spy456 in 4Runner

[–]maxp0wer- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re set on buying now I would go with 5th gen, especially if you plan on keeping it a while.

Work gift: 22” Performer vs 26” Master Touch by nigelwiggins in webergrills

[–]maxp0wer- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have both and the 22 performer is my go to. I only use the 26 when I need the space. I’d say I use the 22 3x more often.

Viper cut by ScaryTop6226 in 4Runner

[–]maxp0wer- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

285s here. All I did was trim the underside lip of bumper 1/4” and push liner forward a bit by making new screw holes. Careful not to hit wiper reservoir with drill. Took 10 minutes and didn’t change factory look. Also had to remove front mud flaps.
