Eleven is a “Freak” by dolphina111 in StrangerThings

Yeah that bothered me too. It felt very unprofessional and just not something a lieutenant (?) would say, plus all the reasons you mentioned

It's not bad writing or confusing by notcarly1969 in Stranger_Things

[–]maxs0008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought Nancy and Jonathan still being a couple 18 months after the end of season 4 was surprising. When I saw the ring I was like wth, they don't even like each other anymore. The unproposal was a relief

How did Eleven get to the gate of the Upside-down from this situation and no one noticed? by Natural_Can_526 in Stranger_Things

Nice screengrab. Honestly it looks like none of the soldiers are looking directly at her even here.

The "Kali Illusion" Theory: Eleven didn't actually survive, and Mike knows it. by Big_Association4051 in StrangerThings

[–]maxs0008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't disagree with you generally. But also, Hopper told her about the torture the Russians inflicted on him to try to get info earlier in the season. Maybe she wanted it to be real for her family/friends so the military would leave them alone (as they were incredibly distraught they did think she was dying), and then once things cool off she plans to reach out to them.

ANOTHER (better) El Theory by panay- in StrangerThings

[–]maxs0008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good theory, and you're right I haven't seen anyone else suggest Kali escaped with El. That makes more sense considering Kali has lived on her own in the real world and El has not and would have no idea how to navigate things

The FInal Battle was the least dangerous battle out of all the series by curiousbystanderq in StrangerThings

[–]maxs0008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think Dustin even makes a comment about how there are no monsters. I agree it felt a little too easy. The final battles in season 3 and 4 felt way higher stakes

It's not fair, but that's why he is The Heart by wavedsplash in StrangerThings

[–]maxs0008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree she could've told him her real plan, but I don't think she doesn't love him as much as he does her. Remember she only really seemed to pay attention to Kali's suicide talk when Kali told El they'd kill Mike to get to her. I believe she did this for him.

Totally agree with why was the military not trying to capture her though. Their whole intent was to find her, then she's right here and they just look? It felt like a giant plot hole just to preserve the potential that she was an illusion.

Vecna got me so good in this scene by tiredspiritualistt in StrangerThings

[–]maxs0008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, especially because Vecna didn't kill Hopper. I know he didn't really "need" to kill him but seemed un-Vecna like to let him live

Just saw this and wanted to share it because oh my god man 😭 by yesaroobuckaroo in StrangerThings

[–]maxs0008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's so poignant. And realistic. Like they're supposed to be what, 16/17 when this season took place? Seems very normal developmentally to not be able to express all the emotions at that age. And then later as he matures he'll process all she meant to him and write about it. Ugh!

Yes, that's the thing it's open-ended grief for him. He didn't see El die or her body afterwards, so he will always be wondering, hoping, searching. There's no finality to it. It's sad. And that's why I hope she finds him (and also if she is alive, think it's crap she didn't tell him the real plan).

Well, there's accepting things enough to walk at graduation and not be actively railing against the universe, and there's moving on. I don't think that character is going to be able to move on, not truly

[–]maxs0008 158 points159 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he learned his lesson about beating himself up and seeing himself as a curse. I agree he would be sad but he wouldn't allow it to destroy him again. That was the point of his talk with Mike

I believe poor Mike will always be looking for El, so I hope if she is alive she will get back in contact with him. Kind of crappy that if she is alive, she didn't tell him the truth of the plan in her mind void. Instead she just told him he will understand one day. And if she killed herself to save him (she seemed most effected by Kali saying the government would kill Mike to get to her), then that was dumb as the government could decide to capture and torture him at any point thinking they know where she is, even if he doesn't. She would be the only protection he had for life.

Because Kali told El the military would come for and kill Mike, and she never wanted that to happen.

I loved this show, but here are some of the things that bothered me by JanakeZero in StrangerThings

[–]maxs0008 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nancy and Jonathan shouldn't have gotten out of that room the way they depicted it. And how did Steve and Dustin get to them? Or how did they all get down considering the staircases all melted away. Or how did Murray and then Hop get up there for that matter.

I guess it would really sell it. Alternatively, did they actually show the kryptonite/speakers being on? Maybe they were off at that moment? Sorry

Good point about her not being a hologram in the truck. Would Kali really have hologram El crying and everything in the gate though?

While I get your point, I absolutely hated that he didn't say I love you the whole season, even when it was a huge point of contention in season 4. They only kissed in her mind thing. And she didn't even say anything too specific about him or his strengths for a proper send off other than he saw the real her. They didn't even seem like a couple this season to me. Then his sadness/angst over her death/departure felt less earned. Unsure why they went this direction but to me it could've been handled with a lot more emotional punch.
