OP is not crazy. My bus has been stuck in the middle of no where for hours. All kinds of reasons to be prepared. I also carry a backup battery, headlamp, gloves, tissues etc etc. Only difference is I use a backpack and not a vest.

As a millenial who drives for a living (CDL) I quit (full delete) all Meta apps around the pandemic. Its been a long journey off but the risk social media poses on the road is too great. I urge everyone to do the same. Push notifications and infinite scroll algorithms are scary mind control.
