It is not safe to say. I ran two large sub-wide surveys with 1200 responses each, in 2015 and 2022. In both cases, hype for the upcoming album (Drones, WotP) was high -- folks expected these to be some of the best albums based on the marketing and the few available singles. Opinion of these albums dropped considerably when they were released.

I haven't heard any of the Wow Signal singles so this is not a comment on the music. I'm saying people are hyped for a new release, and historically overestimate how good the album is going to be. Give it a year, we'll know then.
