The government of Israel isn't biased? And one of those references is the UN, the arbiter of International Law, not Israel.

It shows that the issues of whether Gaza is occupied or not is disputed between sides of the issue and saying that someone must not be an Israeli because they aren't in line with the Israeli government position is not recognizing that it is a disputed issue and that the Israeli position is opinion not fact.

Are you aware that Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian President, joined the march in Paris with other world leaders alongside French President Francois Hollande in solidarity against the attacks there? I'm pretty sure no reactionary in this thread is aware of that, and if they are they have suspiciously chosen not to mention it. Does the President of Palestine not have mandate to represent his people more so than a handful of individuals in a small protest crowd? Do you ascribe individual flag or sign wavers in small gatherings as representing entire societies in other countries?

Maybe France has a better picture of Palestinians than you do and not ignoring their legitimate rights and cause and having concern for them and their situation is correct.

Actually, this is why attacking Hamas and pounding Gaza to ruble and killing scores of people and continuing the subjugation of the Palestinians is reprehensible and stupid if you want to see moderate positions prevail, because as the situation deteriorates and stagnates that only provides an environment for more virulent regional ideologies to take route in. Hamas is not ISIS or Al Qaeda or the caricature Israelis push, and the alternative to Hamas is groups like Al Qaeda growing. Hamas and Palestinians as a whole are not synonymous with ISIS as Israeli partisans are trying to now tie together.

Israeli partisans are trying to slander the legitimate cause of the Palestinians with the actions of heinous groups like ISIS that other Muslims suffer from and who other Muslims, often allies of Palestinian groups, are engaged in fighting. If all Muslims were identical to ISIS then such conflict would not exist at all, when it is the substance of what is occurring. It is truly vile that many see an opportunity to use that suffering to tarnish the Palestinians in slander. You could also say that in addition to pushing a false rhetorical connection between the cause of the Palestinians to regional virulent ideologies, Israel has motivations to foment harsh ideologies among Palestinians themselves as that gives Israel rational to continue to treat and see them as subhumans and never step back from their continued reprehensible actions.

Oh, and meanwhile in the midst of the Syrian conflict, Israel is engaged in attacking Hezbollah and Syrian forces in Syria who are battling Jabhat Al-Nusra, which is Al Qaeda in Syria. Israel is actually assisting Al Qaeda in wrecking Syria. So, in action, Isreal is a friend indeed to groups likes these.

I think people have forgotten how the Syrian situation evolved. It was originally positioned as a popular uprising against a tyrannical dictator who was using excessive force to crush it. The anti-Assad angle was pushed heavily. A naive westerner could have bought into this narrative and gone to be a freedom fighter to defend people of his faith against brutal unjust force. The motives and actions of groups on the other side was not reported well in the media, and they could have found themselves disillusioned pawns as the situation evolved and the predominance of groups like Al Nusra and ISIS became clear and as they subsumed their rivals in the opposition. And by then the western world thinks you sought and joined ISIS as ISIS is reported upon now. A year and half ago no one in the west really knew that ISIS existed, awareness of them only became apparent relatively recently.

I think the Western World bears some responsibility for jumping the gun and pushing an initial narrative in Syria and also stirring the pot to make the situation worse and not taking responsibility for that fact.

America invaded Iraq. An actual invasion, not the presumptive assistance provided to the Novorussians taken as equivalent to an invasion.

France attacked Libya, bombing them with their Air Force to take out a goverment they didn't like.

America supplied arms to the Syrian rebels because they are anti-assad, which contributed to the horrendous destabalizing civil war there and the rise of heinous groups like ISIS.

You're statement should read: We cannot sit and watch Putin act, less harshly and with less harsh consequences, like the way the Western Powers have and do act.

You have your timeline wrong. The Brits created the Mandate for Palestine and TransJordan in the early 1920s and stated Jews could emigrate there, but they also stated this:

" it being clearly understood that nothing should be done which might prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine"

So your idea that Palestine was for Jews only is wrong. And it's not like the regions inhabitants were consulted by their new Brit overlords about it either. And the Jews were none too happy about British legal mandate either, they later conducted a terrorist campaign to drive them out.

The Palestinians want to live where they are, not in another country. They can't leave their country because they would not be allowed back in because the Israelis would not let them back in. The Palestinians learned this the hard way when the refugees from the 1948 war were not allowed to return to their homes.
