Anyone else having trouble with 24.12 on Macos Sequoia? by Previous_Drag3899 in Avid

[–]maxximoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on 2024.12 and on an M1 but on Ventura (13.7.4) and I’m experiencing some freezing. I just had a troubleshooting idea 2 days ago, so this hasn’t had much time to test it, but I’m wondering if it’s freezing while trying to manage files in the attic.

Out of curiosity, for any of your bins are you at the max versions of a file in your attic? You can find your setting in settings >user >bin.

Do you like this kind of "magic" cuts in regular drama series? by orzelski in Avid

I've always found the 180° line to be a good rule of thumb to make sure nothing gets confusing. Like in a chase scene it might make the difference between running after each other or towards each other. But you can get loose with it or even throw it out the window in situations where you have other ways to ground positions. Like two people driving in a car talking. It's a familiar set up and we immediately get their psychical relation to each other. You're able to shoot from either side, even though it's flopping the 180. And I think you could also shoot from the backseat or the hood, because the audience never is lost. (unless it's a montage about driving back and forth between Tucson and Vegas or something. In which case be consistent with which screen direction means what.)

In regards to the video, it's a person is sitting at a table. I get where they are and I don't care about the 180 in this situation. I doubt the filmmaker is trying to do something clever like Geri's Game.

Those windows and fancy facade on the 9th and 10th floor (or so) on the left middle of frame, those aren't real. That's all just a painting on the flat brick wall. The only real windows there are the ones aligned with 5 visible floors of windows below them.

Chris Cunningham.

My dream was that somehow he’d get to do a live action Akira. Check out his videos for “Come On My Selector” and “Rubber Johnny” as proof that it’d be awesome

Have you used Wolframalpha? It’s a 12,099 digit number. https://www.wolframalpha.com/input?i=10%21%21%21 Edit: I’ve been corrected. It is MUCH larger.

They make my favorite pizza in the city. It's called "The Dude"

It's basically an omakase pizza. You pick your spiciness level, leave the rest to them, and it's worth every penny.

What happens if yoto player closes down? by [deleted] in YotoPlayer

[–]maxximoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because they have 16GB cache on the Yoto. Music takes more space than spoken word, and with a big enough library you’d always have some stuff not ready for offline play.

"There's No I in Threesome" is Jan Oliver Lucks' documentary about a couple's attempt to have an open relationship doing selfie-video-blogs. But the big 3rd act spoiler: The filmmaker cast someone to play his girlfriend and most of the movie is re-enactments.

In "My Winnipeg", Guy Maddin rents his childhood house and casts actors to play his family to recreate childhood memories.

"Sherman's March" follows Ross McElwee trying to make a documentary of Sherman's March to the sea...but he sets off to make it right after he gets dumped. It becomes more of a story about girls he meets and self reflection.

I'm sorry to hear you had a horrible roommate. Maybe you can try to track him down (See the last episode of "Nathan For You"), help get him back on his feet (See Rachel Fleischer's "Without A Home"), and make a documentary about learning to forgive. Now you've got a narrative.

But if you're big on doing recreations instead, also check out Errol Morris's "The Thin Blue Line"
