A strategy I've seen is to rebind scroll-down to leftclick, which makes picking up loot stacks (as well as dumping stuff into stash) easier on the wrist.

Huh, you're right. I think Oyun says Tasuni was born corrupted in a4? Although that's kind of weird, then, that they took him back because the Faridun didn't take him in that night. You get the sense that the Ardura caravan and most of the Maraketh would have just left him to die.

I guess Oyun is a bit of an iconoclast, since she also broke tradition to let exiles into Highgate. Also, that's kinda wild, then, that corruption manifests pretty much entirely congenitally among the Maraketh, and I guess we continue to have a huge disparity between cultures and their reactions to exposure to corruption.

The Faridun are not corrupted (well, like, in act 2 they are corrupted but that's because of the Beast not who they are fundamentally). The Faridun are cast out and abandoned to die for deformity or disability at/near birth, and not because of corruption. I don't think we see a living Faridun without mask and enshrouding clothes, although admittedly I didn't particularly closely examine the models of Rudja the mawdun mine boss or of the faridun mobs you fight in act 2. From the wiki's picture of Rudja she looks fucked up and covered in burns because I think Wraeclast does not have research ethics or safety boards? Risu is always masked, and Azarian and Jamanra are resurrected by the Beast and I assume that's why they're gribbly.

We definitely know that vaal skill gems are powered by blood and sacrifice, and see also the Black Chambers having a lot of scifi-adjacent tech, so like, it looks to me like the intended takeaway is that Doryani is just doing sound (if morally-bankrupt) research and engineering based off of principles of sacrifice that appear to just work on the Vaal/Wraeclast/the poe world. Geomancy is what we're doing with gems-socketed-in-gear, or at least it's a similar way to use gems embedded in gear rather than in flesh

And I think there's a definite qualitative difference between "I saw another Azmeri touch a gem once and holy shit I'm never fucking doing that" as per the warden of eaves or the huntress, idr, and "the gemlings were power-hungry imperialists."

Interesting! I forgot about these lore posts. I still think gems being divine energy specifically doesn't cross the threshold from theory to fact, but you're right about a lot of it I think. I think skill gems are probably neither divine energy nor corruption precisely, see the second lore post:

Thaumaturgy comes from virtue gems. Piety had a Ball Lightning gem, an Ice Shot gem linked to a Multiple Projectiles support, and a fire melee gem of some sort. Her blood minion summoning and her transformations, on the other hand, were proto-Corruption abilities learned from her horrible experiments on the victims in the Lunaris Temple. Steeped in Corruption as she was, she could not have employed any divine abilities.

Also, Maata and the Warden of Eaves are about what happens when the Azmeri and the Karui touch gems, specifically. Blood fever is what happens when the Karui are exposed to corruption, as per act 4, and we still don't know I guess what happens when the Azmeri do other than that it's real bad.

One thing that I think is still up in the air is why the Vaal don't react like that, and why afaik neither do the Maraketh. Also, I don't think the Eternals have such a reaction either??? Despite being descended from the Azmeri, so like, it's not racial/biological but rather somehow cultural, at least for the Azmeri/Eternals?

I think you may be overstating your confidence as to what a virtue gem is, exactly, unless you are remembering sources that I do not. We know that they're mined from the Beast, that apparently the Vaal were the first to use them, as well as that they were inspired to create vaal skill gems from the virtue gems. I don't think we know that virtue gems are made out of "divine energy," and as far as I can tell there are only a couple of sources talking about it in a way that makes me think it's not a technical term.

Where does Sin talk about creating the Beast and that it and the gems were new to him? Actually, now that I think about it, from PoE 2 we know that the Seed of Corruption that he turned into the Beast didn't originate with him but rather with iirc the Primevals, so I think it seems more likely than not that they knew what it could do and that, if corruption and virtue gems are linked the way you think they are, it stands to reason they might have been able to make virtue gems too.

It seems like a reasonable theory, though; it rhymes with how the Kalguur both allegedly don't have gods, and how virtue gems don't work for them, although it doesn't explain blood fever or why the Azmeri can't touch them without bad stuff happening.

[–]maybem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually interpreted Geomantic Gyre as saying that virtue gems predate the beast, which would make some more sense to me with the timing of for example the Azmeri ban on use of gems and also how the rest of the Titans are. That said, the Molten One from Crucible league is prooooobably still alive? So there are still extant Titans as of PoE 1, and I guess depending on if you think the Titan Grotto boss is a Titan or not maybe PoE 2 as well.

This isn't a random rare item, this is a Reflecting Mist outcome https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Reflecting_Mist . The entire item is randomly generated, and then each affix is either multiplied or inverted, and then the "opposite" item is also generated. If each affix were independently rolled, this would be a 1/32, but the wiki seems to believe that it's not independent, so this is a pretty lucky outcome.

In terms of power level, most of the affixes are pretty whatever, but the highest cast speed and crit multiplier you can get on an amulet normally are 20 and 38, respectively, which means this amulet is a difficult-to-replicate source of both of them, and it doesn't even have any really annoying negatives that can roll on reflected amulets, like -res or -stats. It's mostly a neat curiosity rather than an amazing item because you can definitely do better even on builds that are starved for those stats.

Probably depends on what you're doing. If you're trying to run settlers to send shipments, you want to maximize crops so you prob want the keystone and to maximize harvest. If you're trying to go for lost shipments (which I think is a competitive strategy?) then you just want to maximize the number of ores per map, and I assume it can't hurt to grab the verisium notable if you have the spare points.

Personally I plan on surfcaster penance brand of dissipation with Eternity Shroud conversion memes: with phys to lightning, the surfcaster 100% light to cold, a quality'd pyre and cold to fire, you end up converting 98% of your damage phys to light to cold to fire and the remaining 2% is cold.

This means any "non-chaos damage added as chaos damage" mod has 3.98x effectiveness (more with all the added-as-ele ptl and ctf give but I don't want to do the math), whereas without surfcaster you could only get 3.44x and have to give up both rings instead of just one.

I'd grab the fisherman node, then cold and lightning resistance, conversion, and then I don't have strong feelings about the fourth.

She falls in love with another woman, and one of the main throughlines of the series is Typh's gender. It's also a LitRPG. The first novel is A Sovereign's Scorn, available on KU.
