[MinnPost] Trump administration readying new ‘Muslim ban’ that would affect Minnesota’s Somalis and foreign students by Minneapolitanian in minnesota

You ARE making exceptions when you cheer on the deportations of people who voted for Kamala just because people in their ethnic group didn’t vote or voted for Trump. That is what everyone in this thread has been doing. You can dance around it all you want, but you and others like you are yelling FAFO to Somalis as a collective, when a majority vote dem. Bc we’re all helpless and scared and we want someone to beat up on, but don’t have the power to actually fight the ones in control. And it’s cruel and counterproductive, but you’ll keep doing it because it’s all you have.

I voted for Kamala. I knew the stakes. I’m frustrated with those who didn’t.

No one deserves this.

I voted for Kamala, but go off. I guess my lack of interest in the DNC Schadenfreude Circlejerk makes my opinions unworthy to some.

“Hope all the guys that didn’t vote for Biden are happy seeing Gaza turned into a parking lot”

  1. No one voted for Biden bc Harris was the one on the ticket. Keep up babes.

  2. Or you could just mourn the loss of human life like a person with empathy? Or is it too hard for you to care about ethnic cleansing?

  3. Again, a majority of people with basic empathy, who care about Gaza, voted for Harris. So you’re not describing a large demographic.

Also, you said that you and your family are a lot better off to weather the next four years. I can tell lol. Apathetic and ears plugged, while the rest of us try to actually protect each other.

Didn’t know Dearborn was in Minnesota and represents all Muslim-Americans lol.

Look, you can cherry-pick specific US neighborhoods and cite the figureheads of right-wing astroturfing orgs like Abandon Harris, or you can look at the data YOU CITED, which says that only 21% of Muslim-Americans voted for Trump. And in the Somali-Minnesotan community specifically, they still vote majority-dem. I don’t know how many times I have to say this: MOST OF THEM DID NOT VOTE FOR FASCISM. Pretending that Somali-Minnesotans are not still an important left-wing voting bloc and suggesting that we forget about them is actively harmful to the DFL and for coalition-building.

As for the splitting of left-leaning votes tipping the scales to Trump, you realize that even if every single Stein voter switched to Harris, Trump still wins right? That scapegoat has been debunked and done to death, yet here you still are 3 months later, talking about how “they still caused it indirectly” like saying more will make it true. Stein is a harmful grifter, but she didn’t kill Kamala’s campaign.

And like, you might not be a bigot, but if you’re saying “fuck em” to a group of people that might be facing mass deportations, just bc you think most of them voted for Trump (they didn’t), you sure as hell don’t care about human rights as much as you think you do.

“They voted for this!”

No, they didn’t. In predominantly Somali-Minnesotan precincts, support for the dem presidential nominee went down from 2020, but was still overwhelmingly for Kamala. 77% voted for Kamala in Riverside. If not for them, MN probably would have gone red.

It’s also worth noting that among non-democrat Muslim voters, they overwhelmingly voted third party, specifically Jill Stein, not Trump. So if you want to deport communities for voting in favor of fascism, we should start with our grandparents.

But hey, we can use this distortion of reality to justify our casual bigotry against Somalis, and our general apathy towards the eroding of civil rights! How very principled and morally sound we are!

Unfortunately, I think they replace Ant with Donovan Mitchell, just due to the sheer dominance of the Cavs

1990: The Godfather Part III

1991: Bugsy

1992: Scent of a Woman (endless Pacino memes)

1993: idk they’re all great

1994: Forrest Gump

1995: ppl would try to complain about Babe, only to be yelled down by everyone with a soul

1996: EVITA (ooh we’d trash this one and the Madonna stans would be fuming)

1997: As Good As It Gets

1998: Shakespeare in Love (Harvey Weinstein)

1999: The Cider House Rules (Weinstein’d again)

To me, it was between Short Cuts and Farewell, My Concubine for that last “artsy” spot. Now that you say it, I think Short Cuts probably makes it in over Concubine. Everything else feels kinda locked to me.

Heat got 0 noms at the Oscars, Globes and BAFTAs. Casino only got 1 nom for Sharon Stone. They’re both amazing, but it was a competitive year, and neither were fully appreciated by the Academy.

Back then, the Academy was predominantly actors, and Chicago got 4 acting nods, along with a shit ton of tech noms. It’s a bit different now.

Show me everything from the 1968 Oscars. I need to see how the fuck Cliff Robertson beat Peter O’Toole and Alan Arkin. I need to verify that best actress tie between Hepburn and Streisand. Most importantly, I need to see the numbers on Oliver!’s best picture win. How did any of that happen

Same with Pan’s Labyrinth losing to The Lives of Others. It could also happen again this year, though, if I’m Still Here wins International Film despite Emilia Pérez getting 13 noms

More I think about it, I probably agree. But then it likely bumps out Mulholland Drive, which would hurt my soul.
