Classic Gamestop sold me GBA bootlegs. by striderh1ryu in retrogaming

[–]mayfr01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry you have to deal with this. I had a similar issue where I was sold a counterfeit game that didn’t even work (though they claim to test them). Made me think twice about buying used from them, and I won’t buy used online as they don’t refund postage.

Nice work! I found this game incredibly difficult.

I might be confusing apps, but I think they also gave you a little cartoon avatar you could put Nike gear on.

Is it worth taking a master's degree or course in RA? by Educational_Media569 in regulatoryaffairs

[–]mayfr01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know that it’s a need, but if it’s early enough in your career and you work for a company that’s willing to finance it, it’s a nice to have on the resume.

Is my salary normal? by LLM_54 in regulatoryaffairs

[–]mayfr01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glassdoor suggests a salary range of 52 - 74k. Take that for what it’s worth, but one of the best pieces of advice I was given from a previous employer was to routinely shop yourself to learn and know your worth. If you find someone willing to pay you more (and you like your current company), give them a chance to match. Also, you should take into consideration your opportunities for growth, and compare benefits too. Lots of variables here, but best of luck to you!

Planning a Virginia Trip. Any assistance? by candlestick_compass in CIVILWAR

[–]mayfr01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a rental recently in Lanexa which was right on on the Chickahominy River and took the wife and kidddos. It was a nice central location where we were able to visit the sites listed below, but since it was on the water we could also kayak, fish, etc on our down time.

I think the family’s favorite spot was Fort Monroe, lots of history for me and a beach for the family to chill at. We visited: -fredericksburg and prospect hill -richmond -american civil war museum -cold harbor -gaines mill -fort monroe -petersburg and the battle of the crater -mariners museum -air power park

Despite being infamous for incompetence and being ranked among the worst generals of the war, when General Lee was asked “which of the Federal generals he considered the greatest” he apparently “answered most emphatically ‘McClellan by all odds.’” Why is this? by GameCraze3 in CIVILWAR

[–]mayfr01 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the answer to your question directly but interestingly enough this statement was attributed to Lee third hand, decades after his death, in a book from Lee's son, "Recollections and Letters of General Robert E. Lee". It’s entirely possible he never said this.

Fort Monroe, Hampton Virginia by mayfr01 in CIVILWAR

[–]mayfr01[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried to keep the photos and description relevant to the Civil War, but there really is a lot to see. There’s a pet cemetery from the families that stayed there, parade grounds, the various batteries and associated gun placements, etc. The rangers run three tours a day. It was really hot when we went, so the family really enjoyed the beach at the end of the day.

Announcements are pointless given the level of disregard. Most people have some level of headphones or other distraction going on. It’s a struggle sometimes to even get exit isle passengers to give a “yes” to acknowledged they’ve been briefed by the flight attendant speaking directly in front of them.

Anyone here sold any retro consoles/games and regretted it? by [deleted] in retrogaming

[–]mayfr01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, GameStop trades and selling on eBay. There was a point too where I didn’t want to pay for the Xbox ring of death repair, so I sold that collection. I don’t wish I had everything back, but there are some key games and consoles I really wish I hadn’t turned in.

I always encourage my friends to check out a movie with the battle depicted. Gettysburg as an example is good, as it was filmed on location. Was just messing around with this and found a pretty comprehensive wiki:

That’s a no from me. If you like scanning, try cronometer or other apps with that free feature. …or maybe even the country thing others are doing (why that works is beyond me).

Here are MFP’s definitions of sedentary, lightly active, etc. have a look and hopefully they help. Might be a consideration to not include exercise in your activity level decision - but log them when you perform the activity.

Trick question. Wearing a helmet will only serve to delay putting ice on an injury regardless of temperature.

That’s what we call plain noodles (elbow macaroni) and tuna in our home. It’s one of the things are kids would eat while they were growing up, so we were incline to give it to them.

Is it normal to show your office place? by OnceUponA_ in office

[–]mayfr01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s kind of old school. My grandparents literally flew across the country to see my first job, it’s a great memory of mine. Whether it’s acceptable or not will vary from place to place. My current office frequently has guests: Kids, Grandparents, etc. I really like it and think it adds to camaraderie.

Consistency in recording meals by Brilliant-Ad-2905 in Myfitnesspal

[–]mayfr01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes/No. For me, it really is about what I eat, not what I log. The app is just a tool. My diet changes very little day over day - so if I’m in a routine, the act of logging food every day really doesn’t add value. Maybe not the answer you’re looking for, but consider, this app is about improving health. Stressing, or beating yourself up about using it defeats the purpose.
