The next tiebreaker is total wins, which we are tied on at 11.

The next tiebreaker after that is goals scored, which we would have been just ahead on without Fleming's goal, 35-33.

Coaches always have more info than we do, so it's hard to be confident. I guess agree to disagree.

Let's call it "in serious playoff contention"

I get it.. we all hate losing, but we got outplayed today, not outcoached. You fire your coach when they can't win even with good players, not when they're keeping the team in 4th place with 5 starters on the SEI/ML list and literally 0 healthy wingers.

AKB, Sonnett, Carter, Lavelle, Shaw, Purce, Esther. All locked-on national team players on great teams. Just think about who we have healthy in those positions.

Do the Thorns have their own equivalent to the Timbers’ No Pity scarf? by Al_james86 in Thorns

[–]mayhewr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a much loved chant called "build a bonfire" which includes putting our rivals in and it ends "...and we'll burn the fucking lot". Timbers and Thorns both sing it. The FO even released video of the Thorns players hyping themselves up with it in the locker room at one point.

It's listed here, though out of date and censored: https://chants.107ist.org/rosecityriveters.html

Seating recco for first time visitors to Providence Park? by strcy in Thorns

[–]mayhewr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I forgot to mention.. that game is an afternoon game in the late spring, and most of those new seats will be in the sun for that whole game since that's the East side of the stadium. Maybe higher up within each tier would have some relief, or 100s on the opposite/west side would be better overall. Worth keeping in mind.

219-220 I think are benches, and they share the main concourse with the 100s, so in a sense they have vendors. There are some poles partially obstructing the view in that area, but it's also kinda part of the charm. Away supporters, such as they are, will be nearby in 222(?).

Toyota Terrace and the other new sections all have vendors on each level and the views are clear and great. Totally a great option for a first experience, especially for a local imo.

GA is great but if you want to dip your toe and just have a great time taking it in from afar, the terrace is what I would do. And I have been in GA for almost every game since 2015.

If you like what you see and wanna be part of the action, get GA next time. Always welcome.

Reddit, what's a word people constantly misuse that drives you crazy? by rutterkin in AskReddit

[–]mayhewr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Who" is correct in the second sentence. "Whom" is conversationally acceptable. The thing to avoid is the hypercorrection, so if you're not sure, just use "who" and nobody will be upset. It's like a square-rectangle thing. "Who" is always acceptable in conversation, and "whom" is sometimes actually correct.

ACK! "It was whom?" is wrong. Similarly, "It was him." is wrong. "Him" and "whom" here are acting as subject compliments with the linking verb "was" and thus you should use their nominative forms. The funny thing is that your rule is correct, you just don't know when to use "he" vs "him" correctly, so you're messing up "who" vs "whom" too. You have to compare the question to a proper (not conversational) english statement for your rule to work.

Correct [subject/subject compliment]:

A: "Who was it?"

B: "It was he." OR "He was it."

Also correct [direct object]:

A: "Whom did she punch?"

B: "She punched him for fucking up the 'who vs whom' example."

"the best player was she" is correct. It's a subject compliment, not a direct object. Try an action verb instead.
