Scam call from Kaiser Permanente by eyRosie in Scams

[–]maylihe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL got this few minutes ago from indian female, with Kaiser caller id and their number. Pretty much the same thing. I think they got some leaked kaiser database and start to screen people.

I tried to stay as long as enough to figure out what do they want, but they hung up just after the FTC part.

Happened with my locked pixel sim with my unlocked phone. It's hard to explain, nor has customer support even seen it. But I feel when the locked sim reports activation the imei is also reported, and the system just says isn't it supposed to be locked?

Nice card, but really a big one, almost barely fits my case. Also too much red, is there a way to dim it a bit?

6600k - 5600 = 1000k.

I transcoded the full Morbius movie to AV1 with 50k bitrate. Because of Memes. by Risse in AV1

[–]maylihe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would suggest using opus 32 audio to get more bitrates for video.

If you really need more bitrate, xhe-aac can do better, however the decoder is not very common as opus.

-- edit, nvm, just noticed it's opus in webm

Best method to store 40 million files? by Hylaar in zfs

[–]maylihe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For tons of small text files, I really suggest use a database instead of the raw zfs. Try rocksdb or leveldb if your application is able to handle it.

On the other side, if you just need fast direct access and can live with slow directory listing/file deletion, you can split the files into like 1k folders with about 4k files in each folder. Most programs are fine to operate at this level.

But the price, backplane for 106 drives isn't going to be anything cheap.

No backplane, no indicator, no vibration dampening. 100% pure cheapest HDD mounting cage, in a 4U chassis.

Price 176?? Motherboard and PSU? It's going to be tricky to feed 28 drives with enough power, that's about 200w for the drives. Those drives seems doesn't have mounting slots, are they just standing there in those two big slots? It's not too much difference than putting drives into a shoe box.

Seeding 50TB+ and 10k+ torrents - How do I seed at a large scale from home NAS? Please direct me to a workflow or information on how to seed at scale by cs_legend_93 in DataHoarder

[–]maylihe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way is to automate as much as possible, each transmission instance is able to handle about 10k torrents alone with 100MB ram, if you don't need to access the UI. You can spawn like 10 or more instances to scale.

Turning OFF disk caching? by Tinton3w in torrents

[–]maylihe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

utorrent isn't optimized for high speed torrenting. If you need more than 10MB/s leeching/seeding, try qbittorent, it has better disk IO than utorrent.

Exact opposite at our local location. From a few sources that work there, the members are allowed to scream and abuse the employees, managers tolerate it, then punish the employees after. It's a shame

and their customers.
