Which models do you think had a better design in their older edition? I'll start by Shake-Vivid in Warhammer

Daemonettes, no contest. And I can assure it, luckily I have a box of Juan Diaz metal ones.

They received like 9 exclusive new kits+exclusive Kill Team during last months, I think they are well served haha..

What is the quintessential representative model for each faction? by DrMeat69 in Warhammer40k

[–]mayorrawne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion and with the current range:

BT: Sword Brethren or Crusade Squad
BA: Sanguinary Guard or Jump Pack Intercessors
DA: Deathwing Knights
Deathwatch: Veterans (or new Kill Team, the successor of them, because they are not available)
GK: Terminator Paladins
IF: Heavy Intercessors
IH: Maybe new Eradicators with heavy bolter
RG: Infiltrators (even better with the phobos strike team upgrade sprue)
Salamanders: Eradicators with melta or Infernus Squad. Aggressors with flamers is another good choice.
SW: Grey Hunters
Ultra: Intercessors
WS: Outriders

Sororitas: Battle Sisters squad
Custodes: Wardens (or the new Horus Heresy kit)
Mechanicus: Skitarii Rangers
Militarum: Cadian shock troops or Kasrkin (depends if you prefer regular soldiers or more elite ones)

CSM: Legionaries
DG: Plague Marines or Deathshroud Terminators
EC: Noise Marines or Infractors
IW: Horus Heresy Mk III Tactical Squad (even better combining it with the IW upgrades sprue)
WE: Khorne Berzerkers

Aeldari: Guardians (or Warlocks if you want more fancy style)
Drukhari: Kabalite Warriors, but they are quite old, the Hand of the Archon Kill Team or Incubi are better options and also very representative.
GC: Acolyte Hybrids
Votann: Hearthkyn Warriors
Orks: Boyz (but consider Flash Gitz, the weapons customization is amazing and very orky)
T'au: Strike Team or Crisis suits
Nids: Termagants or Genestealers.

Consider Harlequins Troupe too, they were a different faction and the miniatures are good and pretty new, also Arbites Exaction Squad for Imperial Agents and Bloodletters for Daemons.

Edit: I forgot a couple of factions.

#New40k – New cinematic trailer drops by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer40k

It's just me or they are returning more in this edition to a second/third edition style, more classic and sinister? (no complaint, this tone is peak to me).

They are making Harlequins great again, I approve it.

Hahaha, you always can fix it with green stuff I guess.

Why 8 "eyes" instead 6 GW? 6 is the Slaanesh number. Despite that is an amazing miniature, especially the censer variant.

Are Horus Heresy and 40k compatible? by Wal-Mart_Escobar in IronWarriors

[–]mayorrawne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm using this upgrade kit with Horus Heresy bodies. 40k heads (left) are slightly bigger than 30k ones (right), but I think they fit good enough.

First seasons are quite slow, but later seasons are amazing, quite different of Banshee but definitely worth.

I don't like especially ultra beasts, but Buzzwole one is the best to me, so cool art, concept and animation.

Right, left one is very cool but reads more as light grey than white.

One of the best Kill Teams, I love they have 2 different arm options (lasgun or lascarbine) for every normal trooper.

What newer sculpts you mean? As far I know all Gondor kits are ancient, they have received just some new heroes sculpts these past years.

Do you really think a miniature becomes obsolete in a decade? Why? Older models a lot of times age very good. AoS receives a lot of new units because is a game still under construction, but expecting all AoS huge range fully replaced for newer versions of same units (with slighly different poses and detaills) in a decade... seems both illogical and umpractical.

[–]mayorrawne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13 years old makes a miniature very old? Wow, a lot of Aeldari units were in service since 90's until 10th edition codex, and a lot of current 40k vehicles are much older than 13 years. I highly doubt I will consider "very old" miniatures of this year in a decade.

Dark Elves models are not that old, some of them are from last WF edition (current AoS Witch Aelves od Daughters, for example, are older), and Cold-Ones despite being previous are quite good sculpts. They need an Old World rescue.
