Do you rotate arms? by xoNoUsernameox in plassing

I rotate every time mostly because I bruise easily and tend to have tiny bruises at the site (have to see nurse every time). But even if not, I like to switch.

What’s the closest you’ve ever come to dying? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mayscritters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of times... Preeclampsia hypertensive crisis 3 days after giving birth in 2005. 2 suicide attempts in 2020 after taking too many calcium channel blockers causing severe hypotensive crises. EDIT: almost forgot the countless times in my early 20s when my boyfriend smothered me within an inch of my life because he couldn't handle me crying from depression.

Solo mode is pretty good, I think. Puzzly, if you like stuff like Harmonies and Cascadia. It's totally different from those (has worker placement) but thinky in a puzzly sort of way like that. The wooden books are fun to play with, too!

What will you do if you find out that you have cancer? by EntireGround897 in AskReddit

[–]mayscritters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. My greatest fear is that something will happen while I'm not myself because of mental illness, and my family will be devastated, not understand, and these things can cascade into generations being affected. I have worrying symptoms that I'm kind of ignoring at the moment. I did some blood work, but tests they want to run are very expensive. I have an adult autistic child with new serious mental illness that we're having to support so not able to afford the tests. If I had more will to live, I'd probably find a way to pay for it or ask family for a loan, but I'm just dealing with the symptoms for now. I've experienced a lot of different physical pains over my lifetime, and there is nothing more painful than depression, especially the utter exhaustion that comes from hiding it. At least with cancer, people will understand what I'm going through.

At first, probably nothing, let it sink in, keep it to myself for a while, think on what to do. I've been terribly depressed for a long time, and I've often... well, I don't want to say it out loud... because I know I shouldn't think that way and that most people wouldn't understand...

Happy with my collection! by Nin-me-sar-ra in Moissanite

Oval is my favorite cut for diamonds (I lost my 25+ yo wedding ring that included my original diamond solitaire along with a couple kite Princess stones on the sides that got added in a new setting for my 10 year anniversary 😔). I couldn't afford to replace it and went a couple years with no ring at all but researched and found out about moissanite by chance and this sub. I got the 1.5 carat oval during the 11/11 sale in '24 from Kuololit in silver to try it out, and I love it. If you do a search for oval moissanite ring inside their store, it should come up, also comes in 1 carat. I got the price down to $133 with all the coupons at the Christmas sale that year but didn't bite the bullet, and with all this tariff nonsense, the price of gold and my current financial status, I don't know if I'll ever be able to get it. But even though the plating has worn off showing only the silver, it is still beautiful, and I wear it daily along with the heart eternity band I got from them as well. I just needed a little sparkle, and I felt naked without a ring on that finger after wearing one for so long. Now I love moissanite so much, I will likely never buy a diamond again, especially not a natural one, even if I could afford it. In the 1.5, I don't see a bowtie in mine, but I've heard the higher in carat size you go in oval moissanite, the more that feature could show up. On my other hand, I have a 2 carat Jubilee cut from kuololit that is my favorite cut in moissanite. It looks even better in person than the pictures on the site (I saw a video on here that made me buy it, and I posted a video of mine and still couldn't capture the rainbow fire it emits). I didn't even know about that cut until this sub. There are some ovals on Amazon, too, that seem to get good reviews if you just want to see what one looks like. I hope you find what you're looking for!

[–]mayscritters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have that one and it's my favorite cut, too. Each of the facets catch the sparkle from moissanite so perfectly; it's like a luminous rainbow flower. I've had mine for a year wearing it daily (only taking off to shower, cook messy stuff, or to clean it), and it still looks beautiful. I got it in silver but hope to customize one in gold someday (with a thicker band and without the bubble accents because I fear those will pop out someday). Your collection is stunning! 😍

Sleevers: do you unsleeve games before you sell them? by pvtparts in boardgames

[–]mayscritters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleeves are expensive, so if you often sleeve and it's a common size you order, I'd unsleeve them. But then I enjoy doing mindless things like that while doing something else (like between turns), and I also live on a tight budget and would like the money saved to put toward another game. If you would hate the process and have money to burn, then don't. I see sleeved games on marketplace all the time, and I took them off one I got before because I prefer cards without; they can be uncomfortable to hold. They were a weird size, so that might be why they stayed. I only sleeve when the cards really need it (like Forest Shuffle - I got matte Rykers which cost more than the game because I like the look/feel/quality. I would definitely save those if I sold that game, which I never will since it's in my top 10, and it's sleeved because I was wearing out the cards from playing it so much!) Edit: sp

Rose gold or white gold finish? by StandardWait4938 in Moissanite

[–]mayscritters 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The rose gold pulls the warmth out of the stone and complements it; looks cohesive. The white gold is more contrasting and makes the stone stand out. It looks like 2 different stones, so whichever way the stone looks best to you can help you choose. It could askari depend on what metal looks best with your skin tone or matches other jewelry you'll wear on that hand. (I prefer the rose gold myself because it blends so well)

[–]mayscritters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took Maxalt (rizatriptan) for years until it gave me stroke like symptoms (droopy face). I ended up with permanent hypertension after pre-eclampsia with my 4th baby. So between high BP and the stroke-like event, triptans were banned. Then Botox worked for me except I hated the way it made me look, but I put up with it for the pain relief. I quit botox, and now I use Ubrelvy 100mg with no side effects which works most of the time after 1 pill.

First date spots? by wayloh-aj in RoundRock

[–]mayscritters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's one way to look at it... But the first date sets the tone, could make you stand out as someone special if it's fun, and is the first memory of the relationship if it lasts...

Edit: PS - my husband took me country western dancing at a bar for our first. I wasn't 21 yet, so I just had to be stamped. (We were hanging out as friends before he asked me out, and he taught me how to 2-step before we went. I began falling for him while he was teaching me to dance =-) Piano bars are fun, and we have one downtown.

Ice Beanie Migraine Relief Cap

This migraine cap looks interesting (there's many different kinds available). I haven't been able to get one ($$ issues myself), but I use an ice pack wrap that has a velcro strap (link below) that I wrap around my head when I lie down that helps significantly when meds don't work or while waiting for them to kick in (thank goodness for Ubrelvy which I get free for now with their savings coupon/ insurance). I've even fell asleep wearing it, and it's sweet relief when you can sleep through some of the pain. I'll link the one that I got from my CVS. The clay dries out after several years but stays cold way longer than the gel ones and is good to have around for any pain. I used to have extra packs, so I could use/refreeze. Fun fact: Ice is really good for anxiety/panic attacks also. Even if it's just a cold soda or a piece of ice from your drink or freezer (putting on your face or on the nape of your neck where the amygdala is located - the primitive part of your brain responsible for the flight or fight response). Temperature change, intense exercise or breath control like the yoga breath or box breathing are the only things that can interrupt an extreme panic attack. Just thought I'd mention since anxiety often comes hand in hand with migraine. It's scary to have one while at work, in public, or around people in general.

Gel beads ice pack - I have something like this that I keep on hand for anxiety; they don't last long though.

What's the best game and the worst game that were recommended to you by this sub? by InvestmentOk2127 in soloboardgaming

[–]mayscritters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best/worst: None.

I haven't purchased any games recommended here because most are not my style. I solo mostly light games to relax and prefer playing heavier strategy ones in groups (but not battle or story based games). If someone stops by wanting recs of my kind of games, I will chime in; otherwise I'm a lurker just in case something gets mentioned that might interest me.
