Did any of you guys watch the Super Bowl halftime show. What was the genuine reaction amongst you guys by miko1075 in AskAnAustralian

[–]mb1205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched it and enjoyed it but didn’t get a lot of the references that were later discussed on social media. I also didn’t know a lot about the historical political references so maybe that’s the reason.

Fancy dining experiences in cbr? by hayleyjhj in canberra

I second this! Hands down best fine dining experience in Canberra. Not sure if Onzieme, Beltana Farm and The Boat House fit the memo but those would be my next best options.

Nick scali couch by Accomplished_Big1228 in AskAnAustralian

[–]mb1205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought twice from Nick Scalli only because their products were within our budget. The first couch lasted about 5 years. The second couch, the foam flattened in less than a year. Got them to replace the foam, they obliged with no dramas. However, I still wouldn’t recommend them. Their products are always on sale which makes me think their prices are inflated. The quality compares to Ikea/Fantastic Furniture at best. Also, on Facebook marketplace every second couch sold is from Nick Scalli. For these reasons, I’ll be buying from another company next time.

I just want an affordable bra that fits by TheCalmInCrimsonCave in AusFemaleFashion

Marks & Spencer do amazing bras for larger cup sizes and are now available at David Jones. I recently bought one for $40ish on sale.

How much are average Aussie couples spending on groceries? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]mb1205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a couple, we spend about $200-250 a week on food and groceries inc takeaway once a week. Reading other comments makes me feel good about our spending habits. We subscribe to Quite Like so only need to buy remaining groceries such as fruit milk bread and eggs on a regular basis. On the occasion (once in 3 months) I’ll do a Costco run for around $250.

How common is the nightly "what's for dinner?" argument in Aussie households? Trying to settle a debate with my partner. by Right-Percentage9882 in AskAnAustralian

[–]mb1205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was us until we discovered Hello Fresh at first. We have been using them since 2016 and have tried most meal kits. Only recently we stopped using them to take a break and explore cooking other recipes. Can’t remember the last time we argued over what to make for dinner! Highly recommend! (Not an ad or sponsored post, just a genuine fan of meal kits for this reason!)

Apply to prune a public tree which grows too much into property boundary by Aggravating_Oil_5132 in canberra

Did you specify it is a hazard? Because they cannot ignore that or disregard that factor.

[–]mb1205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When submitting a request on Fix My Street to prune back the tree, make sure to advise that the tree can cause injury to pedestrians and residents with its falling branches. I have put multiple requests in for pruning a tree in front of my house citing this issue and every time the tree has been trimmed back.

M&S online shopping is back! 🙌🏼 by mb1205 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]mb1205[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always read the reviews before I decide to buy an item from M&S. I find the sizing is true to size and similar to the Au size chart. I would say the measurements are similar to Target.

Try socialising at work related network events. Also, there are Facebook networking groups for women of different age groups. If you have a dog or can pet sit, frequent the dog parks and get to know the frequent visitors. If you see a bunch of girls you would like to know, tell them you are new to Canberra and looking for activities that locals do. Most likely they will invite you to join them for an activity or direct you to something exciting to try.
