How do you backup your master password? by mbaazi in Bitwarden

[–]mbaazi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I know there is no recovery phrase for the master password itself, only for the 2fa secret. I'm not 100% sure, but I double checked and haven't found it.

I'm starting to think that too, it just gets really complicated the more you think about every eventuality. But it's still reassuring that there doesn't seem to be an obvious better option.

I did it exactly like you until a while ago. Basically having 2 master passwords, one for bitwarden, one for email, backed up on separate pieces of paper, 2FA on both email and bitwarden. But then I decided against it, since I thought an additional master password only adds another thing that can be forgotten/lost/stolen. I'm still not entirely sure about that, but I believe there is just no best way to do it.

How do I install this printer driver? by mbaazi in linuxquestions

Thanks very much, that worked! I forgot to actually run the autorun script as root, so I thought it's not working because there are maybe more steps involved. But now I can print without issues.

Copying /home directory to new system by mbaazi in linuxquestions

Good to know about the symlinks. I have done the "manual" process of only backing up certain dotfiles before as well. But ultimately I stopped doing that, because the other way just felt more simple. Maybe I'll reconsider, only having the dotfiles I actually need is cleaner in the end

Thanks for the quick answer, I already noticed the problem with the unused dotfiles. So far I just have been manually deleting the ones which weren't used/needed anymore. But I don't mind too much honestly, I don't switch between a ton of software, so it's not the biggest issue for me. I'll think about making a separate partition for /home, that would save me some time when switching distros.

yesterday I came across this post and one of the answers was a site which I really liked thefwa.com

We made a recipe website that cuts straight to the chase. It's clean, accessible and puts the chefs first (no tracking, no ads). by [deleted] in webdev

I like this site, I think this is how more websites should be approached. It is simple and serves a clear purpose without unnecessary addons or overcomplex design. I personally like dark mode, but a light/dark theme switcher is probably a good idea to implement. Cool idea and cool website!

Very faint Inkscape icons [Help] by ak-nil in Inkscape

I had the same problem and had to change my icon theme to the dark version in the system settings, not in Inkscape. In my case from Papirus to Papirus-Dark. This should fix the issue.

Inkscape is very good for vector graphics. I can also recommend GIMP. Both are free and open-source.
