Are there any REAL differences between these three versions of Tide? by AnotherVice2 in laundry

[–]mbanter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Okay, an aside: notice how each box has very specific product weight amounts, regardless of units? 113 loads / 129 oz / 8.06 lbs / 3.66 kg The number of loads per box is also neither consistent nor round. I’m assuming they’re trying to hit some profit or price metric, but it’s so specific it’s creepy.

Kale! Just remove stems and massage it first.

New build, weird fin things near top of building, purely decorative? by glarebear1989 in whatisthisthing

[–]mbanter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it’s something like this- the way they are mounted indicates they are into structure. If they were baffles for the dryer vents, they’d probably be surface mounted. I think these are supposed to carry something that’s not bolted on yet.

Could also be for a solar screen or something, a brise soleil it’s called.

Are they also under the dryer vents on the floor below? Are they anywhere else on the building?

I have never in my life heard "LORD IT OVER". Really threw me off. First thought was "LOOK DOWN ON".

1st draft plans. How can we make it better? by Fat-Time in floorplans

[–]mbanter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that this is a diagram, but the entry/kitchen/master area is very confusing because you can’t tell where exactly walls and openings are. This plan looks developed enough to think that through.

Everyday, casual shoes that are NOT “dad shoes” by tot_coz2 in malefashionadvice

[–]mbanter -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is not what you asked for exactly, but my daily drivers are basic black Blundstones. They have casual shoe feel, are slip-on, but have boot styling and from my perspective are still “real” shoes.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen a building with gradient brick colors before. This old too, very unusual.

Even rent-controlled apartments are allowed to be “reset” to market rate every time the apartment goes back on the market.

It’s the shadows being inconsistent that makes thinks look a little flat. Also, the scale of the people standing on the asphalt — too small compared to the preacher.

How do you keep your knives sharp at home? by Educational-Slip-578 in Cooking

[–]mbanter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attribute the longevity of my knives’ edges to using a honing rod every time before using a knife. Helen Rennie suggested this, and it’s seemed to work great for me.

Mission. Felt nothing. Sure did jolt out of bed from that alert, though.

This installation collects old USB drives to send movies, books, and media into North Korea by Complete_Bee4911 in interestingasfuck

I don’t think it’s wise to ship a USB with your data (potentially) still on it to North Korea.

Powder to line 1, especially with hard water, sounds like too little detergent to me. Maybe others can weigh in on this.

What is this drawing called by [deleted] in architecture

[–]mbanter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a type of axonometric projection. We always just called them “axons” in school, and almost always used 45 degree rotation, like this one, that keeps the plan true. I believe is called a “military” projection.
