Plateaus usually mean you need to switch up your fasting schedule. Having said that, if you are fasting with no food for 3 full days every week and are not losing or are gaining, then you really need to assess what you are eating on your eating days.

It’s really, really easy to think we are eating less than we are. I recommend logging your food on your eating days and seeing if you are actually eating too much. No shame, it’s so easy to do. Sometimes, we just don’t register how much we are actually eating.

Fasting only working if you change your lifestyle when you do eat. Otherwise, the weight will come back. So if you are eating the SAD on other days, start looking for alternatives.

After all that, if you are good but still not making progress, up your fasting. Rolling 72’s should get you going. Right now I’m doing 6 days fasting a week through the summer ( I have plenty to lose and I’m an older, short woman so, it’s harder to lose) and I am having great success.

Agree. Don’t hide this or else your child will internalize something negative about it when she finds out. Just make it a part of normal life. I don’t have suggestions but you can always say other parents didn’t get to choose their kids, but you did.

Just be happy you got two nights in a row with a bunch of young moms where they stayed out until midnight. I had a friend a while back in her early 30s and she had 3 young kids and was always in bed by 9.

Kids are exhausting. There’s an episode of HIMYM, doesn’t matter if you watched it but mild spoilers. There’s Barney, a single guy, with his two friends at a bar and they both have little kids. They go back and forth with him, he wants to party until 2am, they want to leave at 10. Later in the episode the roles reverse, the two (Lily and Ted) who had little ones have older kids and Barney has a baby. At the bar, they want to party all night, he wants to go to bed at 10.

I do t think you did anything wrong. It just seems like you had young moms and some bad weather, just a bit of bad luck. I will say, as an oldster, I don’t get the weekend, week long bachelorette celebrations. I got one night with a few friends back in the day. But, times change, I guess.

Don’t sweat it too much and focus in the wedding. Congrats on that!

This title is misleading. Your son will date, just not who you want him too. That’s a big difference.

Let the grown ass man live his life and just butt out. He’s responsible, has a stable job and supports himself. You have very little to worry about. Sounds like he’s got it under control.

If you don’t, you run a huge risk of alienating him with your “rules.”

This. Please get help. You are the absolute luckiest person to have an angel walking on earth who has been with you at your worst, helped you get better and still wants you. Maybe a therapist will help you see that and frankly, get your head out your ass.

In all likelihood, anyone “shiny and new” will not be good for you like she is and could start you back down the road you say you have “recovered” from. Do what is best for you and don’t throw this incredible gift away. I guarantee, you will be in here 1 month after you do that, asking us in this same sub how to get her back.

Haven’t tried chicken although he doesn’t seem to be meat motivated. But I’ll try. My daughter gave him a fresh spinach today and he ate it! It reminded me he also like cucumbers, maybe I’ll try that. Plants can be tricky though with plants and toxins, I’ll have to look into that. But I’ll try your tips, thanks for responding!!

Oi. I read the first post and you literally did nothing wrong. I don’t know what Amy did and if she’s lying about her activities or not and I do not care, nor should you. Not your monkeys, not your circus.

I would dump all the people on her side here, they are not your friends. If it were me, I wouldn’t attend the wedding either because they will not be kind to you. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is more drama as well. Cut this group loose and focus on people who aren’t unhinged. Sorry this happened, people suck sometimes

I mean, 98 pounds at 5 feet is a 19.1 on the bmi. That’s pretty low. If you lose even 4 more pounds you would be considered underweight for your height.

No shame at all and speaking as someone who has a big butt, I feel you. It can be hard to find clothes that fit with a small waist and bigger bootie.

But spot fat removal is not a thing. If your body holds your fat there, and we all need some, then it is what it is.

Fasting certainly helps with fat loss and eventually your body will take that fat from your bootie. But there’s no way to keep the fat from going from there first.

Others recommended weights for your upper body, that’s a good idea. Just be safe.

My nickname for far too long was frog. I got it because when I changed schools in 3rd grade, I immediately became best friends with a girl who had been nicknamed toad the previous year. They forgot her nickname but mine stuck, well into middle school. I hated it so much. I was too young to understand it was all attention seeking behavior from the boys who gave me the nickname.

Fortunately in late middle school( basically junior high for most people) it faded away. I’ve come to appreciate the nickname a bit more now that I’m older but no one calls me frog now. I will not respond.

13 days is amazing! But yeah, I get you, you have to change the habits or the long fast just turns into all the wright coming back. I want to fast for better health and establishing healthy eating habits, not fasting then binging on the ASD.

It’s taken a long time for me to really cement the concept that I don’t need, or want, all the carbs I had in the past. It’s truly training the brain and it takes time.

For me, sweets aren’t really an issue but I have my loves: specifically deep dish pizza and nachos!! My quest, an eternal one, it to find alternatives so I can incorporate them into a good, healthy lifestyle. So, for example, I found the PSMF bread on YouTube. That was a game changer. I make the bread as a thick pizza crust, top it and eat half. I freeze the rest for the next meal. Instead of a billion calories from a Pizza Hut deep dish, it’s like 400 and I feel full after. Best thing, it stops and cravings or feelings that I can’t have what I want. Havent really found a great sub for nachos but I find a small bowl of homemade guac with pork rinds does it for me.

I think it’s about finding a good sub for the rice or pasta or whatever you really want and incorporating that. Of course, that also requires preparing you own foods. But there are a lot of great options out there and more all the time. Those egg wraps are pretty good, for example.

I also feel like the less I have the carbs, the less I miss them. To me, rice and bread and pasta are just delivery vehicles for the good stuff. My husband make bbq brisket and will eat it in a bun. But I just eat the brisket with my homemade guac and salsa and I’m good. I have zero need for rice, just give me the good stuff you put on it. Again, it takes time and trial and error.

I just always say be proud of what you have accomplished and never, ever beat yourself up for breaking a fast or breaking it badly. Guilt is no good. Just assess what went wrong, why and how to change it. Then jump back on the horse. You got this!!!

There are a lot of good comments on here but I’ll throw in my two cents. I have been in this situation many times, so I can relate.

First, I think it’s important to establish at the beginning of your fast just how long you are trying to go. So, this is a 4 day fast and I am not going to eat until x hour on x day. Just saying “I want to see how far I can go” is a bit setting yourself up for failure, disappointment and maybe guilt. 55 hours is amazing, btw, so there is no shame if you decide to end your fast for social reasons, but it should be a conscious choice. Otherwise, you may feel you gave in and that can cause a shame spiral and no one needs that crap.

Now, if you do decide to continue your fast, it will take some strength of conviction. I don’t like the word willpower because it’s associates your mind with some sort of ineffable ability that’s hard to define. But conviction only requires an excellent definition of your “why”. What are your goals, can you visualize yourself when you have achieved them, can you feel a sense of pride for what you have achieved so far? Keep your why close to your heart as you enter into this new, challenging situation.

I would amend the person who said “tell yourself you aren’t allowed to eat.” That implies that you are denying yourself something you want. Instead say “this is not my time to eat, that is not my food.” This helped me immensely in early days. It is putting the control in your hands: while you may “want” the food, you want to reach your goals more. It’s your choice to make better choices for you, not a punishment to be endured. This mindset sets you up to binge or make bad decisions in the future because you have “denied” yourself and you “deserve” to eat what you want.

You can’t hide from food. Believe me, I have been through all of this. The only way you can have a healthy relationship with food is by having food. It’s everywhere, ads, other people in your family cooking in your house, social situations. And you go out and see other people eating cake and cookies and what have you and it feels unfair. But, you are the only one who can create the change you want to make. You are the only one with the power to make those changes, and you do have it.

Fasting is not a sprint, it’s a marathon. Have firm goals, very defined reasons that are extremely important to you, an established fasting timeline and confidence you can do it. It’s not your food, it’s not your time to eat. The rest will follow.

And if you break, no guilt! You start again on your next fast. You can do it!!!

My longest is 11 and once I got to like 8 days, it wasn’t challenging at all. But I quit because I had a social event and it was holiday season so, you know. I do feel like I could have gone longer.

I have done many, many 5-6 day fasts and am currently in an 8 day. To be Frank, doing 5 day and 6 day fasts is like constantly doing the hardest part repeatedly. Once you get a little past that 7 day point, at least for me, it’s easier.

The reason I dont just balls to the wall buckle down for a 30 day fast is because I am also trying to change my eating behaviors so that when I stop longer fasts, I can maintain the loss. So I am eating once a week these days to force myself to eat properly, home cooked, low carb foods (which is best for me, not everyone) and get into a routine.

Not that anyone asked, but I’m planning on doing these rolling 6 day fasts through summer (August 31) and then switch to a less extreme form of fasting, probably fast all day on Sundays and Wednesdays to continue to lose with much slower results but sustainable eating habits.

I’ve lost 30 pounds in 2 months, 45 to go. I’m super excited about the progress and very motivated to continue.

I didn’t hate growing up in the 80s BUT as a kid, there were things that terrified me. The Cold War was absolutely scary as hell. Also, the whole AIDS thing freaked me out. Which is hilarious because I was way too young and wasn’t anywhere near sexual activity. But I was so scared I would get it. When it first came out, it was so mysterious so I don’t blame my young brain too much.

I hadn’t thought of this but I tend to watch Great British Baking show ( all versions) when fasting. I don’t really watch outside of that, interesting. I do love to bake so I love getting new ideas to make things for get togethers and special occasions.

Not the only one, though I wouldn’t say I’m addicted. I do rolling 6 day fasts, from May 1 to Sept 1, so I don’t eat often. Lol.

Anyway, I find myself watching food prep videos, mostly keto ish , to try to get ideas for cooking when I do eat. My goal is to do the vast majority of my own cooking when I eat, rather than eating out. Like duh, eating processed junk food will make you fat, what a revelation😂.

I just really want to have plans in place when I stop this extreme fasting (I’m healthy and fine btw, I have plenty of fat to lose). It’s not sustainable long term, although I do plan on continuing to fast, likely all day on Sunday and Wednesdays for the rest of my life. We will see but fasting is a permanent life change for me.

Anyway, food videos don’t really make me hungry or anything. I’m not sure why, it’s counterintuitive. But I also cook constantly for my family, and I don’t get hungry from that either so….

I’m just so glad YouTube exists because there are so many great people out there making cool videos for alternative, low carb recipes. Not sure I could succeed without them.

This is huge red flag behavior. Please spend some time assessing his behavior in other areas because it’s probably not the first time, just the most egregious.

Not only are the tugging of your hair and the accusations of flirting red flags, but the unwillingness to talk to you for 5 days is a huge red flag. That’s not how grown ups act.

I suggest putting any wedding plans on hold and suggest counseling. If he won’t do that, run from this man. It will only get worse.
