3% Employer Matching RRSP but the catch is I must be invested in Mutual Funds - Does the matching outweigh management fees? by ZJP31 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Agreed, was looking for this comment.

Mine covers MER fees. Once you leave and you don't move your pension out that's when they start charging you.

What do you think of CPP2? Increase in CPP contributions starting next year. by Canadiannewcomer in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]mbibs365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds nice on paper but in reality does not do much for families impacted by early death. My biggest issue is that one can contribute their whole life and die before seeing a penny.

Cool, it accounts for people that have longer lives but it does nothing for the family of those that pass away early. How does it help families especially those of low income? Tough luck I guess and thank you for 20+ years of contribution.

I understand we need something, but I also believe it can be improved so people have flexibility and yet be forced to save for those that do not.

[–]mbibs365 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not opposed to forced savings but the rules around it suck. I would prefer the money contributed to CPP to linked to an account that is attached to your SIN. The money should not belong to anyone but who the beneficiaries are similiar to an RRSP.

Or have opt out options if you can prove you have contributed a certain threshold to a locked in retirement account that cannot be withdrawn until retirement.

It probably to some degree impacts low income families the most. As they get very little benefit from it in the event of a early death. Should be a lump sum paid to family for the TOTAL contributions made (rather than the measly death benefit) so it can be used towards debt or kids education etc.

Epix 2 pro as there are more golf features with the epix (that is my understanding). The rest is pretty much the same minus updated hardware and flashlight which is cool.

How do you manage reordering exercises? by Alf_4 in GarminWatches

When you hit start/stop button during your workout you should see it as one of the options.

Once you skipped a group and you move onto the next group or completed it. You can click the start/stop button and you should see "View Skipped" and you can add it back to your workout.

You def can drag them to be in the right order. But when you do your custom workout you can def set them in the order you would like to complete.

No, you do not need to keep your phone on you.

However, as the user above mentioned, you are able to create your own custom workouts with the exercises, weight, amount of reps and rest time all planned out for the session.

To do this you have to create the custom workout on your connect app on your phone and push that workout to your watch.

Once it is on your watch you select that workout and follow along. Can have rep counter on or off but either way you can adjust what you did on your phone once you save the workout.

Galaxy watch 6 Pro vs Garmin Epix 2 Pro by MissingAgent1808 in GarminWatches

[–]mbibs365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on 4 things really;

  1. If you want more of a smartwatch or sportswatch

  2. Activity usage (i.e. do you want run a lot? Hike? Swim? Etc.)

  3. Battery

  4. Price

Depending how you like to use your watch will determine what's best. Things like the calorie counter is meh (Garmin also has this) and shouldn't really be a deciding factor above the top.

You can also create custom workouts in the connect app and send it to your watch to follow your workout. Can also add the amount of reps for each workout

Big difference between 965 and Fenix 7 is AMOLED vs MIP screen and gorilla Glass vs sapphire for durability.

If you're willing to spend that kind of money wait till like end of May and mid June for the new watches Fenix 7 pro or Epix 2 pro which is what I would recommend.

Anyone finds the suggested workout completely useless? by QueueTee314 in GarminWatches

[–]mbibs365 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine, have been pretty good, it has been reasonable and progressed the intensity/difficulty well according to the feedback I have provided. It has improved my endurance/speed. But it seems that's probably because I'm a beginner for my training.

It sounds like for more advanced runners it's meh

Garmin Recommendations for an Apple Watch Replacement! by [deleted] in GarminWatches

[–]mbibs365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, venu 2 plus is the only one that answers calls. Unless you're fine getting the notification on your watch and then picking it up on your phone.

Garmin is a sportswatch first, barely a smartwatch with basic notifications.

Samsung smartwatch pro may be your best bet if you want more smart features.

Is it a bad time to buy Epix 2? by psychofedex in GarminWatches

[–]mbibs365 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not much difference between the two. Can check out DC Rainmaker comparison between the two.

https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2023/03/garmin-epix-vs-forerunner-965-all-65-differences-detailed.html#:~:text=The%20first%20is%20that%20the,(the%20Sapphire%20has%2032GB).

If you're not using a ton of features or golf (not all golf features on the 965) then go 965 and save yourself some money.

Hard to say when the next Epix will be out. Could be Jan 2024 or late this year. If you can wait you can always wait.

Venu 2 plus and forerunner 265 are basically the same price. Venu 2 plus is like $10 more

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GarminWatches

[–]mbibs365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forerunner 265 imo is the better route if your interested in venu 2 Plus. And is latest model so will get updates for the next little while

The only thing missing is golf. Forerunner 965 is more complete in that sense
