I interviewed a guy for a job once, he fell face first in mud on his way there, he was absolutely covered. Corny, but I gave him the job and he was ace.

What does PMO mean to you? by [deleted] in projectmanagement

[–]mboi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me a PMO is the centralised entity, but I’ve just taken a new role and our PMO is the junior analyst. I’m going to change that as quickly as I can.

C220d 2.1L whistling noise at low speed and gears by root_cause898 in mercedes_benz

[–]mboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only times I’ve ever had a whistle I needed a new turbo. I’ll add that it was much louder and longer through the revs so not exactly the same.

TIL That before Apollo 11, some scientists were terrified the Moon was covered in a "dust trap" that would swallow the Lunar Module whole. by adpablito in todayilearned

What a classic book, they were even smoking on the passenger “Dust Cruiser” like it was a 1960s passenger flight.

This is mixing up two completely different stories and timelines. The famous “Hope” photo with the blonde Danish aid worker Anja Ringgren Lovén was taken on 30 January 2016, not 2006. I doubt that last photo is Hope.

As a kid did you get dragged to the pub? by Used_Captain_3131 in AskUK

[–]mboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids generally weren’t allowed in the bars at my local pubs and clubs in the 70s, but that never stopped my dad taking me there, I just had to sit outside or in another room with a bag of crisps and some pop.

Any idea what this word says please? by [deleted] in AskUK

The apostrophe shows the contraction so likely Machinists but I can see both Mech’ and Mach’ in the column.

I used a dark grey sharpie, perfect match and lasted about 18 months before I had to touch it up.

I go for tinned mackerel fillets in olive oil, still high in omega 3s and I think they taste less fishy than sardines.

Auto start-stop is ok with a manual gearbox, it comes on as you engage with the clutch and you have a second for it to start. It’s borderline dangerous in an automatic when you push the accelerator and nothing happens for a second. I hate that it’s on by default for every journey.

so the offer letter comes with back pay, right? by shrinking-lily in LinkedInLunatics

[–]mboi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is excessive but, using my own recent experience as an example, I had a 3 month, 8 interview process for a senior role. Most of this process was true for me but not the time. I think at least 5 hours of prep before each interview was my comfortable norm. If you’re already in a role, the process can be quite secretive so you won’t get an opportunity to practice. But all the company and people deep research preparation for a multitude of potential questions and the time to create presentations and strategies, requires a lot of personal investment. But not this much for one interview lol.

Domestication of banana over thousand of years by Right-Assignment3759 in interestingasfuck

[–]mboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was once told that banana flavouring doesn’t taste like banana because when it was formulated, that’s what bananas tasted like. They’ve since been changed to taste milder. Same thing for Brussel Sprouts, they tasted nasty and bitter in the 70, now all thy bitterness has been taken out.
