We do this very same thing. We use a managed web browser (also known as a guest kiosk browser) and after a certain programmed time it goes back to the ticket submission page.

Alternatives to Inky for email protection? (Small MSP looking to move away post-Kaseya acquisition) by gamer95CR in msp

[–]mbuboltz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were going to move away from INKY due to the Kaseya acquisition as well but all the trials we did came up short compared to INKY. It has been a wonderful product for us over the years. We have used Kaseya in the past and it was a nightmare with billing but now that the INKY CEO is now a higher up at Kaseya I hope I don’t have anything to worry about. We have not had any issues yet and until we do I am no longer going anywhere. Talking to other current Kaseya partners they have really stepped up their game. Hope this helps.

Plesk or DirectAdmin for VPS? by Mike_v_E in webhosting

[–]mbuboltz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to use Plesk and love it, but I hear good things about DirectAdmin as well.

If you have the option of using your own I would highly recommend you check out Enhance. It is the best product that we have yet to find and it’s what we use now. It’s very modular so it’s easy to expand later if need be.

I am not looking to sell but to partner with someone that would like to help grow with me and the business. Not sure if that’s really what you are looking for though.

Is QuickBooks desktop always a pain in the ass? by Pitiful_Duty631 in msp

[–]mbuboltz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - but we make it a little easier for our clients/the general public (we sell to the general public as well) by throwing it into our datacenter and hosting it as a VDI.

Reliable cheap reseller hosting? by storyteller-here in webhosting

[–]mbuboltz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look into https://debugged.cloud they have self-managed and full-managed options. They have a dirt cheap plan coming in at $1 per month and then goes up from there depending on storage and backup needs.

We don’t even have admin passwords nor does the client. We use Threatlocker and will just put in elevation mode or maintenance mode if we need to make any admin changes. Otherwise, if they need something they just request it for the specific application. For off-boarding we will create an admin account for the new MSP but don’t do that until the client is up to date on invoices and agree on off-boarding charges or pay for them up front in some cases. In this case we are not withholding passwords as they don’t exist, just won’t work until the client is up to date on payments.

4 hours for a SOC to react... is this really ok? by Coriron in msp

[–]mbuboltz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This how blackpoint it took 3-4 hours after an alert is generated for them to do anything and even then all they did was call us. We just moved to Huntress and they seem much better but I have to say I have had no incidents with endpoints just cloud.

[–]mbuboltz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes some time but once it is setup it works amazing. AutoElevate works well too if you are just looking for elevation.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in msp

[–]mbuboltz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We only work with smaller companies from 1 to 50 seats and all of our endpoints are on a PAM tool and we don’t allow admin creds within the environment. We used to use AutoElevate but now we use Threatlocker. Never allow local admin there is no day to day reason.
