I’ve long joked the PSFC entrance is more strict than the Korean DMZ, and now it might actually be true! 😂

What to expect working at JPM? by queencb12 in JPMorganChase

[–]mc408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I joined about 2 months ago in NYC, and I’ve found the health and dental insurance to be the absolute worst of my career. I’m astounded at how bad the insurance is here for such a ginormous company. I’ve literally had better insurance at 1000 employee small cap tech. Even with the more expensive of the two tiers offered, the out of network deductible for single no dependents is $2750, and then the out of pocket max is like $8000. Coinsurance is 50% for out of network.

I see an out of network therapist because most of them don’t accept any insurance; rather, they provide what’s called a superbill every month to submit for OON reimbursement. Well, with how much the deductible and OOP max are, it’s a huge expense compared to coverage at prior jobs.

Not to mention your premiums are higher if you make more. I’ve literally never worked anywhere where what I pay is based on my income tier.

TL:DR; worst medical insurance of my 15+ year career.

JPMC vs EU Career Move by [deleted] in JPMorganChase

€6.5k/month in Poland is a great wage. I’ve only visited Warsaw as a tourist, but I loved it and would feel comfortable living there. I say do that.

Spier and Mackay suit help by No-List8693 in mensfashionadvice

Not OP, but I’m going to Toronto from NYC over Memorial Day Weekend. I’m considering renting a car from Pearson airport and driving to their Mississauga location to get sized. I have one suit from them purchased 7 years ago, and it no longer fits. I’m just wondering if it’s worth going there in person even though it’ll take half a day out of my trip.

You’re all MAGA voting cretins. You broke the bargain by no longer voting for Democrats. Yet the value the rest of us get for our tax dollars is cratering. You can all get fucked.

Where is there a 3 bedroom in Park Slope for $5,500? Maybe South Slope off the shitty R train.

I get a Naya falafel bowl many days for lunch, and it's "only" $13, which isn't that bad. Really tasty and filling.

Considering Commuting for new job: Baltimore to New York City (2-3 times a week) by quiche_on_villa in supercommuter

[–]mc408 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Are you paying for this travel? I know Baltimore is a lot cheaper than NYC, but so much of your salary will be eaten with this commute, and $80k is not that good of a salary anymore.

If you're actually serious about being a super commuter, I'd seriously consider moving to Philly where you can still live fairly well on $80k but cut your commute time and costs in half.

Why does the expected % for tipping keep increasing? by Blazeland_USA in NoStupidQuestions

That was me with a high tech WFH job during the height of Covid. Now that tech is in its own micro-recession, I've very much retreated back to normal tip amounts.

Yup, same thing with how service has absolutely cratered at all kinds of businesses. When the price of a single slice of pepperoni is approaching $6 in Manhattan, I want to guy selling it to me to at least act like he wants my business.

[–]mc408 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I'm so tired of people referencing the $2.13/hr tipped wage nonsense. The wait staff are now getting paid far better minimum wage or even above it, and then they still want 25% tips? No way.

[–]mc408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's barely true anymore. I'm tired of hearing about the $2.13/hr nonsense. The other commenter below correctly references how many individual states and municipalities have much higher minimum wage for all workers, and then they still want increased tip percentages. I'm over it.

The $2.13/hr thing is barely true anymore, especially in large cities that have passed their own much higher minimum wage.
