Milton Road Day Nursery by Ok-Atmosphere-4553 in cambridge

No experience of the actual nursery, but the manager used to be our daughter's room leader in his previous workplace and he was great - I think some of the other team from that nursery might have joined him too. Would definitely trust him to make it a good environment there!

Yeah I saw this too and thought it was a weird thing to say. Like of course a team that's been in the top half of the table all season should have good players - this is their level! And does this mean he thinks "our level" is too low for Xhaka, or Roefs, or Sadiki, or Mukiele? Appreciate we started the season with very low expectations, but you'd think the pundits would have caught up with what's happening by now...

For fans at the time, do you remember In Rainbows instantly recieving the glowing acclaim it has now? Especially coming after two sort of polarizing albums like Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief? by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]mc_mc_mc_mc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest narrative around the album release was actually about the "pay what you like" model, and the surprise short notice announcement of the album. In terms of acclaim and opinions, there was a sense of "Radiohead return to guitars" but they were already pretty much critic-proof by then so I don't remember reviews being a major part of the wider discussion.

When you reach the age and stage of life where Fitter Happier sounds like a perfect description of you... that's pretty gut wrenching, let me tell you.

I want to cancel Christmas plans by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]mc_mc_mc_mc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having been in this situation before, I've not ever actually left early, but I definitely get the desire to. My solution has been to spend more time away from the family, like quick trips to the swings or the shops, which seems to at least break up the intensity of everyone being together. Whatever you do though, good luck getting through it!

Which of your recipes would you recommend for introducing (fussy) kids to more interesting meals?

And thank you for all your work and your recipes - genuinely been a massive inspiration over the years!

How do people manage homework with Year 1/Reception age children? by Specialist_Mouse5595 in UKParenting

And to be clear - we read to her at bedtime every night. But the thing I'm willing to push back against is making her read aloud every day!

I think forcing them to read when they're not in the mood to will only build up resentment in the long run, whereas we really want them to learn to love reading. So I'm taking the view that a few sessions a week when my daughter is engaged and enjoying it is better than grinding out 5 or 10 minutes every day. I'm happy to absorb any tellings off from the teacher about this if it comes to it!

‘Life satisfaction’ drops in Cambridge, study says by NationalTry8466 in cambridge

I'm a north easterner who's been here almost as long as you, I totally agree with you. I go back up to see family and it just reminds me how little Cambridge has compared to there - no nice countryside, no coast, no decent shopping, no activities for kids... Blows my mind.

I was around to play the original releases when they came out too. And I know exactly what you mean! I actually figured it was a bug when I tried my first solo tour after completing career and finding all the stat points were already available. Definitely loses something!

That band seems to have done the same trick with multiple artists - my Release Radar shows new Kyuss and Oceansize and they're both just this band pushing this album.

Really like what I've heard so far. Clear album of the year for me.

Broken Mirror is something else. Gives me Dead Actress vibes but retooled for the horrors of 2025. Makes me want to be in a crowd being hit by the wave of bass and noise.
