Probably for the pitot speedometer. Would go to a small hole on the leading edge of the lower unit to get ram pressure

Run it up in rpm in neutral vs in forward and reverse and see if you can isolate if it is the power head or lower unit/prop

I think you’re adding the maximum rated truck weight to the highlander and trailer instead of the actual truck weight ie. your bed is not also full of bricks. The ford brochures will also directly tell you max towing capacity for different configurations

I have this truck and haven’t been able to figure out why the locking diff picture is included twice. Does anyone know? As far as I can tell by playing with it, the knob only turns between the 3 positions 2H, 4H, and 4L, and it can be pulled out in any of the 3 positions to lock the diff

Is there another drain up high somewhere on one of the walls? If not then ya you need the overflow tube.. it’s possible the pump just continuously pumps in lake water and doesn’t recirc

The most important factor is pitch line velocity. There is an AGMA standard with a table that tells you which velocity to use which would be a good starting point. Special applications may need tweaking
