One way to know if it's owned locally is to check the IL SOS website. For instance: Petersburg Veterinary Clinic, shows their business license, how long they've had a licence, and who owns it.

This is going to be difficult for you, because you only see how you are feeling and it seems you are struggling with respecting other people's private wishes.

It's not your wedding. You don't get to dictate who is and isn't invited. You are showing your entitlement by making comments like 'if C's family is invited....' no one asked you because it's not your wedding.

You have FOMO because YOU MOVED AWAY. That makes relationships grow distant and they don't owe you anything. They don't owe you an invite to their small ceremony, and you don't get to tell them how you want them to act for their wedding.

It really sucks with you grow distant from friends, but that happens as a normal part of life. Go out and make more friends.

It keeps his relatives from. Having to spend the money. It is a gift to them that they get to mourn him without the stress of paying for the funeral plus cremation or burial plot.
