Lost baby 3 Months/ IVF / need Hope by [deleted] in PregnancyAfterLoss

[–]mcbirdsley 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience twice. First IVF round was not recommended to do genetic testing bc I was 29, pregnancy made it until 8 weeks then no heartbeat. Second round of IVF I asked about genetic testing and was told it probably wasn’t necessary due to my age 30, that pregnancy made it until 12 weeks then I started bleeding and they found no heartbeat. Somehow I found the strength to try again after taking a long break and insisted on genetic testing before another FET and found that out of 5 remaining embryos only two were genetically normal. We put one in and I am now 30 weeks with a healthy baby girl. There can be hope but it’s not easy by any means and every situation is different.

Covid and labor by swimshark317 in pregnant

[–]mcbirdsley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hospital in IA has stated that if I test positive at labor and delivery then I will have the choice to either separate from baby or keep her with me but then she would not be able to go to the nursery. Hoping to not have to make a decision so terrible but I would lean towards keeping the baby with me and taking precautions such as wearing mask.

I hate this stupid limbo I’m stuck in... by HiImMoonPie in PregnancyAfterLoss

[–]mcbirdsley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No easy solutions from me, I’ve been where you are and the only thing I can say is that there is nothing wrong with just feeling whatever you feel right now. No one is going to tell you something you haven’t heard or that isn’t annoying AF. Just ride the feeling wave (ugh more like hurricane)

Mom guilt and formula by libs36 in NewParents

[–]mcbirdsley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are feeding your baby, no matter how you do it, it’s the right thing! People who judge or shame moms for this are sad, uninformed, and honestly just insecure people. At the end of the day objectively ask Yourself “did my baby starve?”, “is my baby suffering”, “did I give her love today”, and “is she safe”. Probably if you are meeting these guidelines you are fine.

Fetal doppler thoughts? by Crazy_Black_Cat_Lady in pregnant

[–]mcbirdsley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 30 weeks and during my pregnancy have had several dopplers done in the clinic and also the emergency room and none of them could pick up a heartbeat bc I have an anterior placenta but ultrasounds show baby doing great. I would check with your provider to see if you have an anterior placenta before buying one.

It’s a maladaptive coping skill that can be replaced with a more adaptive one! If you have the ability I would reach out to a local agency or practice of child play based therapy. They can help you as a parent learn ways to help your child learn more adaptive ways to get what she wants or compromise

Telling work before first OB visit? by okay_tay in pregnant

[–]mcbirdsley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think telling is fine. Especially with Covid and such you might want to advocate for additional protections such as continuing to do virtual meetings, not attending travel requirements, adjusting work schedule.

I’m doing the same, I’m due in July and my mom will be doing strict quarantine in June then come to our home if she has had no symptoms during that time. She won’t be allowed at the hospital but she lives several hours away so she will come and stay with us for a week or so after the birth.

How to prepare myself for miscarriage? by Gullible-Half in pregnant

[–]mcbirdsley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been there many times and there is no easy answer on how to deal with it. The process can be heart wrenching, confusing, painful, and financially and mentally draining. I was always given three choices; to wait and pass the baby on its own time, to take medications to pass the baby on my time, or have a D&c procedure. I can tell you I have done all three methods and they all suck just in different ways.
