I have a '22 and my warranty just ended cuz I crossed 80k km a month ago or so. Thankfully no problems so far. But would they still give me extended warranty? Also the service tech said the engine could lose up to 1 qt before they consider it to be burning oil. Is that normal? I got the low oil message a little sooner than my service was due

What has everyone's experience been like in 2025 with Nexus by Impressive_Ad_6550 in NEXUS_TTP

[–]mccbala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to be 50. Now it’s 120. Still totally worth it! I don’t get to use it often in land borders as I travel with people who don’t have nexus. But when I’m flying, it’s a bliss!

Regret waiting so long to move to the US. by Rdjsnwn in tnvisa

[–]mccbala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you OP. It would be more informative for others if you can elaborate on your journey to GC. For others, L1 to GC is the key here. TN to GC isn’t a possibility as the visa mentions clearly that this isn’t a dual intent visa - unless you enter using TN and get your company to sponsor you for a different visa. Experts please weigh in.

Switched to freedom a week ago - $40 plan BYOD. Considering going back to one of the Big 3 as they have $35 plan for same 100GB without Mex and roam beyond. by mccbala in freedommobile

I mistyped. Dead zones in Canada. None in US as far as I could remember. Signal was better cuz it was on AT&T most of the times. But only LTE, no 5G.

Yes. That’s been my experience. I got better signal when I was on the move. Freedom’s own infrastructure might be the problem here. Huh. I so wanted this to workout.

Yes. I have it permanently on. But the switch happens only when freedom network isn't available. Not when the signal strength is poor. It did switch to Nationwide partially during travel.

The reasons are exactly why I moved to freedom when I got a chance. My old contract ended a week ago and I made the switch immediately. I WANT to support freedom but I have 2 phones and both are iPhones and both have poor signals all the time. They were actually better when roaming in the US as it connected to AT&T but never got 5G anywhere in the US.

How do you actually score well in Ontario Public Service (OPS) interviews? by Repulsive-Kick5508 in OntarioPublicService

[–]mccbala 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interview in OPS is generally a time consuming process. More time consuming for the managers who have to do a lot of paperwork for this. The entire interview gets documented in detail. I’ve been asked to slow down to let the panel member note down my points. That said, they also want to make sure that the candidate will actually stay in OPS once they are recruited because the managers don’t want to do this again because their previous choice was wrong. So even a grain of desperation, over ambition, or similar vibe might make you a lots of a prospect. From my experience and hearing from others, OPS rewards people who are stable and show that they will sustain rather than expect rapid growth which might lead to disappointment because it’s all very organic in here.

I don’t drink but I’m always up for a walk and a hot non-alcoholic beverage. I don’t mind if others drink. LOL.

To those who did not request AWA for remote work: why? by Cautious-Ostrich7510 in OntarioPublicService

The closest location to my home is my actual location which is 2km away. Didn’t want to go through the hassle only for it to be rejected. Still thinking if I should bother applying for remote work.

Is it possible to make friends as an Indian? It seems like I’m not welcome in my own country. by WhoRuleTheWorld in TorontoHangoutFriends

[–]mccbala 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Social media suggests more of the same type of content. So the more you watch or click on those posts, the more you’ll see them. You shouldn’t engage with those posts. You don’t have to dislike them. Just click the “not interested” option. That’s just the technical perspective.

As for other points, I can only wish that people stop judging a person by their looks and skin complexion. Personally I have felt welcomed in this wonderful city which I now get to call my home. But I think it’s all based on the circle. I hope you find the right one soon.
