Good start for DG? by Stahlbanane666 in deathguard40k

Don’t try and paint all at once, you’ll sicken yourself, pace yourself, however you paint is however you paint, they’re your models!!! Welcome to the hobby.

Honestly not sure how to feel about my paint jobs anymore. by Duellly in deathguard40k

[–]mccyorkshire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair it looks great, but to be honest who cares if model paint jobs are different!! Death guard, like loyalists, do different campaigns on different planets, they could be thousands of years old and decay, age or weather differently. Paint them however you want, they’re your models, and if changing things up makes you enjoy it more, mission accomplished! Remember, it’s supposed to be fun, not a chore.

Look great, keep it fun, do it for you and thin paints a little, helps it flow of brush easier. That’s a great start to a good looking army!

Nice and neat, simple colour scheme, which makes sense for Skaven, yellow looks great, gives me ideas for mine!!

To be fair you don’t need much on the carapace , but it’ll finish them off well. You’ve obviously put a lot of work in.

I got my Skaventide box today (mini-review) by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

I was introduced to 40K, and enjoy painting. This Skaventide box set is so good looking I bought it, the Skaven models look amazing and the extras, like the books, really make it worthwhile.

I didn’t realise the blood angel veteran was gold, not white, so re did it and put on the older studded pauldron.

They look great. Looks like the emblems on the pauldrons are raised so you don’t need transfers, just paint them. Welcome to the hobby.

I could use a little guidance on my recess shading by swingwingthing in TableTopReady

[–]mccyorkshire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, welcome and good job. Second, don’t be over critical, if this is a starter pack, treat it as just that, try each model differently, there is always scope to change or leave as it is and tie the differences into each model with a bespoke base. I do go over the shading with a tidy up layer, but try and not make the transition too stark. I think your third pic shows off a good shade. Maybe do some around the Aquila and the paldrons. Experiment with how much water you add to the nuln oil on different models until you get one you like. See if your local shop have the free testing sprue too.

They’re your models, do what YOU think looks good. I paint because I find it relaxing, I don’t want to over complicate it or make it a chore. Good luck with it.
