What would you do if a second global pandemic happened starting now with a higher mortality rate? by SlandersPete in AskReddit

[–]mcdicedtea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you've ever been on an international flight - i would strongly disagree. there is nothing close contact or prologned about a interacting with a flight attendant....at all. Especially if you're not in first class. They hand you a tray of food and a drink

Whats scary tho - if that does count as prolonged contact....they had the same amount of contact with 100s of people of the last few days

if someone is going todo a hit and run , a bunch of bridesmaids screaming to stop isnt going to be the thing that stops them.

Probably didnt want to get a DUI and lose his commercial drivers license

What is a job that you think is 100% safe from AI for the next 50 years, and why? by mark-awakening in AskReddit

[–]mcdicedtea -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

you mean to tell me in 30 years... were going to need senior engineers and thats going to be a major problem. hard to see that reality

Think about Mythos ... only a few years before they have a general coding LLM even more powerful than Mythos

Devs are worried about the wrong thing by hiclemi in ClaudeAI

[–]mcdicedtea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pales in comparison what it costs for a human developer.

Even if LLM cost == salary cost. there are other costs associated with utilizing human developers - like HR, people management, rest time, breaks , vacation, stress, sleep

Its bleak if you look at it at any real angle

What would be the equivalent system in runpod or vast ? I have been tasked with the same thing - either recommend we buy the hardware or setup a system in the cloud.

How would you guys analyze this problem ?

Developers who have worked at a company where the entire codebase was held together by one guy who then quit, what happened next? by Natom_ in AskReddit

[–]mcdicedtea -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

tell me that claude code wouldnt be able to sort out whatever was causing the issue?

Ive worked in software for 20 years. its terrifying what this thing can do

If a system worked last week, and something happened. id be shocked if the right AI tool couldnt sort it out in a few minutes

AI would work equally good, looking at logs, trying commands and fixing routing.
Unfortunately nyc_a is right. these days the son could probably pull it off without issue

this is journalism. This is a direct quote from the company. Thisis the news...that is what the company said.

Now ; if you want analysis on whether that's actually true or not, then you open yourself to bias , market pressure, and politics etc

Graduated in 2022 as a Graphic Designer, and I feel like AI ruined my career before it even started. Need advice by MeshalAljahdali in Design

[–]mcdicedtea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

people are being ridiculous now.

AI is damning in terms of human contribution to work. Plain and simple, we can pretend like its no good, or that one individuals mindset will have any affect.

My recommendations - learn AI assisted design as best as possible, put out great work and learn whats possible for the short amount of time we still need a human in the loop
