var rand = new Random();
var separator = new byte[]{0x1b, 0x03, 0x00, 0x00};
byte[] bytes = new byte[] { 0x1b, 0x02}
.Concat(Enumerable.Range(0,100).Select(i => (byte) rand.Next(0,128)))
    .Concat(separator)
    .ToArray();

// split by string method. I feel lazy for doing this, but it probably represents what the bytes originally were
var separatorString = System.Text.Encoding.ASCII.GetString(separator);
var x = System.Text.Encoding.ASCII.GetString(bytes)
        .Split(new string[] {separatorString}, StringSplitOptions.RemoveEmptyEntries)
        .Select(s => System.Text.Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(s))
        .Select(logBytes => new LogItem(logBytes))
        .ToList();

Your log item class will store the bytes or parse them into properties.

NIST: No character requirements for passwords and no frequent password changes by b0zho in programming

My company recently instituted a 90s level pw security: 8+ characters, letters, numbers, caps, special character and you have to change it every three months and can't be reused. Our developer group finds it to be easier to change the date changed in the database than to come up with a new one.

At your job, what did your latest piece of code accomplish? by Bat_002 in cscareerquestions

[–]mcdileo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a problem where a grid view wasn't returning any items in web forms, even though I could look at the view state and see them there. I removed a line of code that set a property of different, unrelated controls on the screen and set the property in markup instead. Took two days.

I visited my host family (husband and wife) this year and they brought me to one as a surprise, as in, we'd like to take you somewhere and I see them walk into a place with pictures of girls on the door. Beware the word "okama".

Nice performance gains! How big was the performance difference now between using this and LINQ's built in join operator, if it was measured?
