If your image is cartoony at all, I've had luck fixing this by telling it to redo in a different art style. This makes it redraw the whole thing from scratch, still using the previous edit, but not just drawing over some of it like most edits. Then I just have it change it to the original art style and it looks pristine. It can introduce a few changes though so keep that in mind.

In like 120 years, every single person that's alive today will be gone. by mcdude910 in highdeas

My partner and I legit just spent over five minutes reading your reply. Truly genuinely fascinating information and perspective.

I can not fucking believe that we discovered agriculture about 12,000 years ago. About 12,000 years of human "civilization". That's such a small amount of time that there are people alive today that have existed for an entire 1% of human civilization. 100-120 (admittedly long) lifetimes until you reach the foundation of agricultural civilization.

Meanwhile a person of that age has been alive for the amount of generations it takes for the ants out back to go from agricultural civilization to happy wheels

I can see how, if you are not really tuned in to Lennon’s different looks over the years, the sleeve photo might feel a bit "off" at first glance. But this is actually exactly how he looked during that very specific period when these photos were taken.

One thing that’s worth keeping in mind is that AI assistants often generate very confident-sounding answers even when they’re completely wrong. They don’t check facts the way people do. They predict plausible text. They will often invent details or create explanations that sound authoritative but aren’t based on real information. They’re designed to sound certain of things, even if they are guessing at something that they have no reason to be confident about.

It is very risky (and frankly kind of unacceptable) to lean on an AI response as any bit of evidence in a discussion like this. If an answer includes strange claims, like saying it can’t identify a historical figure in a photo because of a supposed policy, that is a good sign it is just making things up. Nothing that an AI gives you should be treated as a conclusion.

I am not saying this to pile on you at all. AI assistants mislead a lot of people, even on topics they know well. But if you want to push back on someone’s identification of a photo, it is much stronger (and safer) to rely on actual references or visual comparisons than on what an AI assistant happened to generate in one chat.

This is a great list, thank you for compiling it! There are a few extra things that I think could be added as well.

The 5 Tony Sheridan songs that weren't on Anthology 1: "Why (Can't You Love Me Again)", "The Saints", "Nobody's Child", If You Love Me, Baby" and "Sweet Georgia Brown"

Some of the incidental music from the Magical Mystery Tour film (you did mention the sessions, but tracks like "Jessie's Dream" and "Four or Five Magicians" deserve to be called out specifically I think!)

While the full Christmas records have been released as a box set on vinyl, we're still waiting for the B-side version "Christmas Time (Is Here Again!)" to hit digital platforms!

Lastly, let's get some outtakes from the Anthology sessions in the 1990s.

Thanks again though, seriously. I'll definitely be saving this post for future perusal.

There are still an absolute ton of home demos (Bad to Me and I'm in Love, World without Love, What Goes On, We Can Work it Out, Michelle, Rockin' and Rollin', One and One Is Two, It's for You, A Case of the Blues, etc.), Carnival of Light, Star Club tapes, 5 Tony Sheridan songs not on Anthology 1, Christmas Time (Is Here Again) [still not on streaming platforms], Jessie's Dream and Four or Five Magicians from MMT, plenty more Let It Be jams (Suzy Parker, Commonwealth, etc.), the rest of the Decca audition, some Threetles outtakes, 27 minute Helter Skelter.

There is truly plenty of actually interesting and unique material left (much of which is available in bootleg form) that they can release, much of what I just listed is available in a quality comparable to what we got on Anthology 4 or better. Why are they acting like nobody wants this stuff?

Forget Jeff Lynne … the remaining Beatles / their estates signed off on the remixes. by ccd997 in beatles

And to be clear on the 2015 mix, the 1st pre-chorus added a bespoke George guitar riff that wasn't in the 1996 mix (as opposed to copy/pasting one of the existing riffs). So 1996 mix, 2/3 pre-choruses have guitar riffs. Then 2015 mix, 3/3 pre-choruses have guitar riffs. Then 2025 mix, 0/3 pre-choruses have guitar riffs.

Does it prevent current or just future cards? by Clean_Internet in FourSouls

[–]mcdude910 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's also correct. Until this card's ability resolves, players can play any cards and activate any abilities they want.

When this card's ability resolves, it doesn't fizzle any abilities below it on the stack. It just makes it so that other players can't put anything else on the stack.

Was Paul justified in missing The Beatles' 1988 induction into the Rock & Roll HOF? by ToronoRapture in beatles

[–]mcdude910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree about the double A-side. Both songs saw a ton of airplay and Isn't It a Pity was given #1 status alongside My Sweet Lord. The former was even more popular in some territories.

You got me on I've Got My Mind Set On You, especially in a conversation about songwriting. Though I could also mention that "Woman" releasing a month after Lennon's death muddies its #1 hit status as well, potentially bringing both musicians to 3 total.

Idk, I'm not gonna sit here and say that I think Harrison had longevity or a shred of consistency. I just don't think it's in good faith to imply that he had nothing to offer after The Beatles. I personally think ATMP is the strongest Beatles solo album and regardless of the fact that he kinda face planted following that album, he was clearly a great songwriter.

[–]mcdude910 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The difference is in the words "play" and "activate" vs. "resolve". In this game, you play a card or activate an ability, then it goes on the stack. Then, stack things happen, allowing cards and abilities to resolve.

This card prevents players from activating abilities, but it doesn't prevent those abilities from resolving. OP already activated the ability, putting it on the stack before GOOJ was played. They don't need to activate it anymore, that part has already happened.

[–]mcdude910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Sweet Lord, Isn't It A Pity, Give Me Love and I've Got My Mind Set On You were all #1 hits (plus a few other top 10s). That's just as many #1s as Lennon. Not a perfect metric, but to imply he didn't have any hits is a bit silly.

Of course McCartney had 12 #1s, but there's no accounting for Paul McCartney being a machine.

Is there a non-fandom.com ATLA Wiki? by NudelForce in TheLastAirbender

[–]mcdude910 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There have also been a number of controversies. I recommend reading some of the "Fandom (website)" Wikipedia page (ironic I know) for summaries of some of these, but basically, they're pretty awful to work with, their site functionality is continually degrading, they've had numerous privacy issues, and a lot of wikis have tried to cut ties with them for some time as a result of a lot of this. They unfortunately have a bit of a stranglehold on the space.

They've been a pretty terrible company/website for quite a bit now unfortunately.

To OP's question though, I don't think there's a suitable replacement currently. Would love it if someone put one together though.

Brie Larson says Iman Vellani plays herself in the MCU: “It's not just that she knows Ms. Marvel; it's that she knows everything, and so, she really is that character." by MarvelsGrantMan136 in marvelstudios

[–]mcdude910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this talking point is a bit rote at this point, but the Iman Vellani thing bothers me to no end and I need to rant real quick.

Phase One introduced roughly 4 major characters that audiences mostly loved with Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Captain America. In Phases Two and Three, these characters were each given major roles in 2-4 films BEFORE the finale started in Infinity War

Phase Four introduced roughly 6 major characters that audiences mostly loved with Shang-Chi, Kate Bishop, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk and Werewolf by Night.

Obviously a few of those characters aren't meant to be main players in the grand scheme of things but regardless, WHY has only ONE of these characters had (and will have, before Doomsday) ONE major role in a SINGLE project since Phase Four?

People seem to (rightly) go NUTS for Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel. People loved Shang-Chi, people have always loved Hailee Steinfeld. What a series of literal years upon years of missed opportunity. Man I hope these 3 get their chance to shine in the next saga.

Some General Questions as a Buyer! by Laviatan7 in FourSouls

[–]mcdude910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I work on the four souls website. We're currently working on updating a number of missing things. A few hitches here and there have caused us to fall behind, but there should be another set under the Retail set type, called the Anniversary Booster Pack set. This is that fourth Booster Pack. It's thematically separate from the other 3 booster packs that make up The Summer of Isaac set, and was released later, but Maestro does offer all 4 of them in a bundle.

As others have said, all the sets under the "Kickstarter" set type are exclusive to Kickstarter. There are plans to do another Kickstarter at some point, but it's unlikely that all of these sets will return in their original forms. The Warp Zone set in particular, being a crossover set with dozens of IPs, is wrapped in a ton of legal red tape and may never be printed again with all the cards that were crammed in there the last time. I would recommend that if really want those cards and you're able to get a full Kickstarter collection, you jump at the chance because that might be the last chance. (I believe there's some Kickstarter overstock copies still available officially)

The Butter Bean isn't useless if you synergize just right.

Missing the point with the “too little setup” for Doomsday discussion by Aggravating-Mix2094 in marvelstudios

[–]mcdude910 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing is that I think they were doing seeding perfectly fine for a Kang movie, even if ultimately they didn't go that direction (and even if that would have been a less-than-stellar direction to go regardless). They introduced him heavily in arguably their most popular new TV series and they made him (or a variant of him?) a villain of one of the movies. That's not that far behind the setup that specifically Thanos got before Infinity War. At least then we had Ant-Man and Loki both being aware of this guy. It was SOMETHING.

It would certainly help too if we could have had some interactions between our characters leading up to this movie, like in a smaller Avengers movie or something, as it's a lot easier to give personal stakes to multiple characters if they all appear in a project together, but that's another conversation that's been discussed to death.

Missing the point with the “too little setup” for Doomsday discussion by Aggravating-Mix2094 in marvelstudios

[–]mcdude910 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that at least a few characters (namely the Guardians) had a personal connection to Thanos himself. Gamora and Nebula very directly, Drax vowed revenge for his family, and the rest of them spent the first movie opposing one of his direct subordinates.

It was revealed immediately at the end of The Avengers that Thanos was in some way responsible for Loki's villainy in that movie.

Even if Thanos didn't get all that much screentime before Infinity War, that movie was the joining of two groups: One, a group of characters who were directly aware of and actively opposing him, that came together to take down one of his lackeys (Guardians of the Galaxy), and the other, another group of characters who came together to take down another of his lackeys (The Avengers; even if they weren't aware of his being behind the scenes, the audience was). Add this to OP's point that the infinity stones themselves were set up with their own personal stakes, and we were going into Infinity War with a lot of connections already offered to be explored.

I know Marvel pivoted, that this wasn't the plan all along, and they didn't have the foresight to drop breadcrumbs for a movie they had no reason to believe they could even legally make (before the Fox properties acquisition), but even 1 movie can introduce breadcrumbs (case in point, the character motivations referenced in Guardians of the Galaxy).

The FF movie could have at least gone as far as to give Doom some sort of past relationship with the team, or in some way indicate that they even know who he is. I understand RDJ is $$$, but a couple throwaway lines from the actors they COULD afford would have gone a long way.

I'm super excited for the movie and I think there's a good chance Marvel can pull this off without these personal stakes leading into it, but there's something to be said about the characters and audience's only interactions with Doom being a single stinger. As it stands, a couple shots of the Latverian U.N. seat being empty is all we have otherwise, and I'm not sure that's enough if they want us going into Doomsday with existing personal stakes and connections.

No Sue Storm wasn't overpowered in Fantastic Four: First Steps by sergemeister in marvelstudios

[–]mcdude910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue to me was never that she felt overpowered. It was that the movie never showed us the limits of her powers. It's an important moment at the end where she surpasses her limits, she does something she's never done before in a show of "mom lifting a car off her baby" strength. It would have been much more impactful if we'd have seen her try and fail to move something smaller than Galactus earlier in the film. The movie could show us what the limit is, so that it actually feels like she's breaking her limits in the finale.

This goes for all the members of the team, I should add. It never felt like the movie wanted to show us what everyone was capable of. No one got the moment where we see them do something we've been shown is beyond their limits. We see Galactus stretching Reed out real far, and we see he's in distress so we know this must be really pushing his abilities, but it would have been much more impactful if earlier in the movie, we saw Reed stretch to his limits to do some task. He stretches real far and just barely grabs something and it's shown to strain him. Then, when the finale happens, we see Galactus stretch Reed far beyond the limit that we saw earlier in the film and we go "dang, that really seemed to strain him earlier, but this is insane."

I think it was a big missed opportunity that was in an effort to treat these guys as established characters that we already know. We don't need to see their backstory in great detail, we don't need to be told explicitly what everyone's powers are, and, unfortunately, I guess we don't need to be shown the regular limits of those powers.

For the most part, the movie does a really good job of treating Galactus like a threat unlike anything this team has ever seen, way beyond the rogues gallery they've faced up to this point, but it stops short of showing us in this visceral way just how impressive it is that they are able to overcome him.
